Definitely a kid we want to lock up. A high major player in our own state. I think his shooting ability would pair pretty well with Toussaint, Ulis, and Perkins.

I think the Wieskamp comparison makes some sense but Payton doesn’t seem to have that athleticism just yet. He needs to work on his athleticism and strength. I think a decent comparison might be Sam Hauser who played at Marquette and will be playing at Virginia next year. Sam isn’t a superb athlete but could create his own in the midrange using his size. Shot 40%+ from 3 each of his three years at Marquette.

These timelines are fluid but it will be interesting to see if he holds out until the fall before committing somewhere. That’s a long time from now and situations could change on both sides of this relationship.

Don’t know how many schollies we will have to give next year but I wouldn’t mind seeing any of these guys in an Iowa uniform, high interest in Iowa.
