If this keeps up...the class will be full by the end of June. Wow, 18 commits. I know the early signing period is driving earlier decisions, but this seems pretty unprecedented for Iowa's classes. Considering we don't throw out offers like other schools...this is a big deal from my perspective. We are getting guys we want that the team knows will develop into what they expect...based on measurables and performance on the field.

I don't think we will be scouring the MAC offers during late signing anymore.

Nebraska is sitting on 4 commits. They are only 2 behind Rutgers though who has 6.

Nebraska is just waiting on the other 396 guys they offered...

I was surprised when Witt committed to Minnesota. It was early and I thought he really was favoring Iowa.

I had the same feeling when Noah Shannon committed there.

Agree. He must feel like losing a few is worth keeping a few. It will be interesting to see what the transfer rate looks like up there, over time.

Rob, what is your thought on Lachey? I see a lot of sites seem to be switching him to an Iowa lean. Would love to get this kid, but it sounds like he is taking his time. Just seems like the type of steal we get from under OSU's nose that they will regret in a few years.

Just my sense, but I think it’s very close between Iowa and MSU. And he’s at a level where he can take his time.

The concern here would be OSU offering down the road and he flips.

Iowa also has a very good TE in Yelverton committed in this class as well along with two at the position in the incoming class. Prospects definitely look at rosters.

Rob, what is your view of the 6’7” TE walk-on, Jackson Frericks from Cedar Falls?

Sure looked unstoppable at the UNI Dome for Cedar Falls. I get the feeling he is an underrated weapon. Too skinny? Not fast enough to keep up with these scholarship players or does he have a real chance to contribute in a couple of years?

He isn’t getting the press of LaPorta and Miamen but I wonder if he might be able to compete with them for a spot in 2020 ...?

He’s listed at 6-6, 200 on the first Iowa roster for ‘19. He’s going to need some time with Doyle. I like his skills. Runs well, good hands. Interested to see how he develops.
