In jons latest podcast, he mentioned how Oklahoma fans may be growing tired of Stoops, and that the program may becoming stale.

I personally believe that Kirk will retire within the next five years. I think he knows his career at iowa is coming to an end, and that theres only so much he can do. Him leaving on his own will mean there will be no buyout.

I think if Oklahoma continues to under perform, and Kirk leaves within the next five years, itll be more likely that Bob considers the iowa job. I realize its a pipe dream, but it is possible.

If not Bob, then like iv always said, Bielema is our guy. Not some assistant that has zero head coaching experience, or a coach from the MAC or somthing.

The last head coach who took us to a Rose Bowl (three actually) was hired from North Texas.

Way to step out onto a limb predicting retirement in the next 5 years when his contract ends in about that time frame (2020) and he will be in his mid 60's.

Bob Stoops is not coming to Iowa. He is already in his mid 50's as well so we will end up looking for a replacement shortly after he arrives. Does he even have the energy for what it will take at Iowa? That door closed long ago.

I highly doubt the university will ever sign off on Bielema given his baggage.

So we suffer through 5 more years of this BS because KF has earned the right to drag this once great program further into a ditch? The ONLY thing he has earned is close to 18 million since the last time he had Iowa ranked in the Top 25. He has NOT earned the right to go out whenever he feels like it. This concept that most have actually grown to accept simply BLOWS MY FREAKIN MIND!!! Barta is way too close to KF to ever hire Stoops....even if KF left soon on his own accord. He would never want to show KF up, by having Stoops quickly turn things around....which he would. Buyout KF....the money is there. Go get Mike Norvell for HALF the money....get him here before someone else grabs him. And for crying out loud, forget about a forming a committee. This whole mess really sux!

An off-the-grid hire? Like a guy who has been living in the woods for a couple years? How about one of the families from Doomsday Preppers? Sure, it might seem out of the box to hire a family that lives in a bunker and kids who know how to hunt with grenades. They would have the team "prepared", for global nuclear economic collapse and polar bear zombies.

Should Wisconsin and Nebraska hang a hundred and four, would that, could that open the door?

Well GB would summons Kirk to his office, he'll enter, GB will have a business like look on his face. He'll begin to bring up the football team's performance and then Kirk will gently wave his hand and do the Jedi Mind Meld and say, "Its been another stellar year", Gary will say, "It's been another stellar year". "Thanks for stoping by, say hi to mary" Gary will say "Thanks for stoping by, say hi to mary".

"Oh, and one more thing, Coach."

"Yeah, GarBar?"

"Kick the ever living snot out of Rice in the Heart of Dallas Bowl!"

You do know that Fry was a total innovator at SMU and then North Texas. Integrated the old SWConference, his teams were wide open, he knew how to coach and recruit and motivate.

I am starting to wonder about KF's recruiting, coaching and motivational abilities even though I thought he was pretty good prior to 2012.

My biggest fear (outside Barta sticking with Kirk the rest of his deal), is Barta making the next football hire. We are screwed either way if Iowa continues to slip program-wise.

We could go to New York City and salvage some stoops from some old apartment buildings in neighborhoods that haven't been gentrified yet. It might seem awkward to have architectural remnants from a region that isn't known for college football as a coaching staff, but its tough to win at Iowa and we may need to make a reach and take some changes on some out-of-the-box ideas

The OP may have been speaking in metonymy, substituting the word Stoops for the kind of people who hang out on stoops. I've only seen people hanging out on these in old hip-hop movies.

And, that was back in the day when Iowa truly was not sexy and recruiting against the like of Michigan and Ohio State within the conference was extremely difficult.

Hate to ask a question, but please explain the greatness time period? Thanks, I will hang up and listen.

What is Bielema's baggage? Guess I don't follow this stuff that closely.

I'm all for us hiring whomever North Texas has as their head coach. I would imagine that he'd bring the sexy back to Iowa and know how to treat ISu like our lil brother and whoop them good and make it our superbowl. One could only hope he has ties to Fry as well, which would make that choice even more of a slam dunk.

Lets go get him... Whoever that is.

I don't understand why you guys aren't talking about Mark Stoops more. The way he is recruiting at UK and already won 5 games this year which is obviously difficult to do there. I would love him if we ever go the new coach route. I think he could recruit well at Iowa and may even be able to get his brother as a coordinator. That is the route I would like.
