Stokes: TCU, Colorado St. and Iowa?

I guess if he is from NY and went to the same HS as Francis that somewhat explains our connection to Stokes. Is there some other connection he has to TCU and Colorado State? They are from lessor conferences or teams that will suck in an equal conference, said conferences have less TV exposure and the teams are not as committed to hoops. Other than TCU being in the Big East starting with his sophomore season, what is the attraction to these other two compared to Iowa.

If all three suck and we are in the B10 and have all that goes with that, how do we lose to these schools unless there is some connection we are not aware of? If one of the schools was New Mexico or some other school that has a hoops tradition, albeit at that level, I could see it. But come on...

I am not saying there can't be a legitimate reason for him to like them, but I don't know what it is and I don't know of anyone who does.

Any help would be great, but I think we look real good for him, as well as either Glover or Hubbard.

The Big East angle is probably enticing to him. He's from the east, so he can get the opportunity to play in front of friends and family consistently.

Maybe he likes purple.

Maybe he's Christian.

Maybe he met a hot girl on one of his visits.

These kids choose their schools for much, much flimsier reasons than those. Trying to find logic in these guys' decisions can be a fool's errand.

I suppose TCU is going to be in the Big East so I can see his reasoning behind this. It's also the only Big East school that will have warm weather year round too. Best of both worlds for him

Honestly, CSU has and is better than Iowa the past 2 seasons. They were a bubble team this season and we haven't even come close to playing in ANY tourney. So I'm sure CSU is using that as a negative pitch toward us.

Kids will go to "mid-major" schools now because the parity in college basketball allows them have a chance to play for a title no mater what conference you play in (i.e. VCU and Butler). Realistically Iowa is probably 2 years away from the NCAAs yet while CSU has a good team returning. TCU isn't very good but again warm weather Big East school.

I agree with Ryno. Its most likely got something to do with TCU to the Big East, or the fact that CSU is a team that is currently fairing better than both Iowa and TCU. Opportunity to win some, or opportunity to play close to home, even if its only a few games a year, will go a long ways for kids.

Stokes will commit to TCU, people will freak out, then later realize he does not have an offer from Iowa.

Hawkstrat: +1; Stokes still listing Iowa without an offer and no relevant conversation from any insiders that one might be forthcoming. That dog won't hunt, at least not around here anyway.
