Step back from the cliff guys

Yeah, we lost again. In a miserable fashion to a miserable team. No fan can be more disapointed than I am. I have to live among the Minnesotans. But the sun will come up tomorrow, and like most of you, I have to go back to work come Monday morning.

This is likely to have been the most forgettable season in Iowa football history. But life goes on.

I feel sorry for the kids on the team, who, unlike me, will have to live with this all the days of their lives.

The only ones I do not feel sorry for are the coaches. Especially KF. Can he return his $4 M to the University for his ineptitude this year?

Norm Parker was the real coach of this team. Amazing the impact his departure had.

Agreed Norm's absence truly started the downward spiral and KF wasn't able to right the ship with his leadership or lack thereof.

I like the original thought about stepping back from the cliff, but it almost seems that you stepped forward after every step back...

I'm not on the cliff. I have kind of recognized it is what it is.... kind of like Steve Alford. The only thing that will bring a change is when apathy sets in and attendance drops.

You're right. We're 7-5 after all and bowl eligable. Of course the Indiana game should have been a loss (6-6). Three of our wins came against the likes of EIU, Ball St. and ISU. 3-9 most likely if we played a tough schedule. Yeah, it's not that bad.

You're right. Minnesota wasn't a bad team, they just couldn't catch a break in most of their 9 losses. Their defense is salty, and Adam Weber was one of the more athletic QBs in the Big 10.

Not sticking up for the coaching staff in any way shape or form, but the way things have paned out, is there any way to possibly say that this wouldn't have occured with Norm? I'm a huge Norm fan, but seriously how can you make that comment.

Definitively, no. I am but a mere mortal, not God. Just my observations given the lack of half time adjustments, interaction with the kids on the sideline, reluctance to try and mix things up defensively, coming up with any means to help out your inexperienced players - say, like blitzing. Even getting the kids excited to play Division I football. I think the lack of this on defense this year was because Norm's second stringer coaches were too scared to do anything that might potentially lead to a misfire on defense and tick off KF. Effectively placing the defense on autopilot this year. The dropoff was too precipitous given all the returning players this year.

IMHO KF owes Norm Parker EVERYTHING. His defense has covered for KF's **** poor offensive schemes from KF's best friend for a decade. Norm IS the reason KF got his multi-million dollar deal. Without Norm, KF has to stand on his own coaching ability, which has been shown to be lacking.
