Statistics on the travesty in Cedar Falls

These are just the stats:

UNI had a 33-9 advantage in terms of free throw attempts.

UNI shot 21 of their 44 field goals from the 3-point line.

UNI was outrebounded 30-25.

UNI had 14 points in the paint to 20 for Iowa.

There were three technical fouls called in 19 seconds.

I would like someone to show me another game where a team that gets outrebounded, outscored in the paint, and takes almost 50% of their shots from the 3-point line enjoys a free throw advantage of almost 4-1. I would also like to know of another game in which three technical fouls were called in 19 seconds and there wasn't a fight.

I'm not arguing that we "would have" or "should have" won. I am arguing that we were robbed of a pretty exciting basketball game by terrible reffing-- notably, the inability to distinguish a flop from a foul, the refusal to call the game the same on both ends, and the showboating move of calling two bench technicals on one play.

If anyone can find stats on how many offensive fouls were called, I would love to see them.

I don't think the combo of jim bain and ed hightower could do worse. Now that's saying something!

UNI hit 11 threes to our 1. This is a trend this year. Until we start hitting some threes its going to be hard to win games. The three point shot has changed the game and teams that have good shooters from behind the arc can win games with less talent.

I think maybe you missed the point of the thread.

it would be the equivalent of a team that only throws quick, short passes getting called for holding 6-7 times.
