Starting 5

Does anyone else feel that our starting lineup is the worst combo that we put out on the floor? Marble is our only threat to stretch the defense. White needs to play 15 feet and in but with Basabe and Woodbury there is no room to operate. Gesell is struggling with pretty much everything and would probably benefit more if he could play off the ball or come off the bench. Any thoughts?

Gesell - by far best option at pg. with clemmons and marble as back ups.
marble - by far best option at sg. With oglesby and jok as back ups.
white - is a 4 playing out of position. Uthoff is the better option with jok and marble mixed in as back ups.
basabe - found his niche off the bench last yr but went back into the lineup to put top 5 on court. This yr that isn't case should be our 6/7 man. White should be 4 with basabe and Uthoff as back ups. Mix in McCabe some especially if he hits a 3 to stretch defense.
woody - he is the best center. Gabe is energy off the bench and is a solid back up.

my take is we have three of five correct as one is out of position. Gesell is in the right spot and had one bad game. He is still our best pg (passer, ball handler, on ball defender, floor general, etc).

Where do you get this Gesell is struggling, he had a bad shooting game against NW.

He had been avging 11+ points a game I believe during the last 12 games of regular season while leading the offense with that 3+-1 assist to turnover ratio,

He gets steals and rebounds, I dont get this.

Gesell is the pg at this point.

Fran could go to Marble at the point like they did in the NIT last year but... who plays the 2 guard when no one else is shooting well.

Before Basabe got sick he was playing great at Illinois, PSU, and in other games. Just another thing that went wrong in February and March.

He had been playing great but I think what he was giving us would have been better off the bench. I have also come to the belief that basabe could have helped olaseni defensively as the defensive positioning dipped a lot when woody came out. I think that Uthoff in and basabe off the bench would have balanced the team better. We would have had a much better offensive fire power from the starters to mask the defensive inefficiencies and the second group would have more defensive ability to mask the offensive inefficiencies.
