67% or so completion....16 TD's and only 2 INT's....one of which was bogus....thats pretty damn good. Id think we were unbeaten with that stat line

Reminiscent of 2005 (?, I think) when our offensive stats jumped from the 2004 season, but we went from 10-2 to 7-5 because of a variety of different reasons. Some of it was defense, some of it was special teams...but Tate's numbers actually went up considerably from '04 to '05 but we just weren't as successful.

At least that 2005 team had an excuse. We were replacing the entire front 4.....a front 4 that was probably the best front 4 the University of Iowa has ever had collectively.

I'm not sure what the excuse is this year. You know, I never wanted to believe it, but I'm really starting to wonder if this coaching staff just doesn't have what it takes to play a season with expectations. There is nearly 12 years of data now that show that we have yet to have a season meet expectations when the expectations have been high. Make no mistake about it, this coaching staff is as good as there is in the country in getting the most out of a team that, on paper anyway, doesn't appear to be "great". But give it a team that appears "great" on paper, and the results just haven't matched up to the expectations.
