Stanzi-Post Game

Was reading some post game articles and I find it very interesting that yet again as he's done all season, a 23 year old has openly taken responsibility for a team loss. Lots of "I didn't do this or that, or I should have made that play, throw, or read." Lots of blame to go around for one person taking the whole lot of it.

Yet we rarely hear our coaching staff say, "It's my fault, or I didn't get the job done, or I didn't manage the clock well." The only coach we hear from is Kirk and the only time he takes responsibility its usually just mocking fan complaints and reporters who rarely question him.

He's the QB and team leader so that's his job, it comes with the territory but many QBs, including professionals (Jay Cutler, Brett Favre) don't often do that. In fact, they've been know to dodge blame & throw others under the bus.

I just think he speaks volumes of the kid and how mature he is. I hope he doesn't get drafted by the Vikings. I'll be a fan of his at the next level.

I doubt they would take Stanzi anyway. The Vikings will most likely either take one of the top qb's in the draft or acquire someone like Kolb through a trade. Stanzi doesn't have a strong enough arm to be a great NFL starter in my opinion. I don't see him being much more than a Colt Brennan type.

Not trying to take away from your original point that he is a really mature athlete.

I have no idea how the guy will do in the NFL, I'd bet a lot he'll get drafted somewhere. He'll have a shot, I just don't want it to be at the crumbling franchise that is Minnesota.

I holding out hope that Greenway is able to escape Minnesota in the offseason FA period.

He'll probably get drafted somewhere in the mid-rounds. I am unfortunately a Vikings fan. Tough year to be a Hawks and Vikes fan with such high preseason expectations.

Oh, I'm sorry bud. I need to realize that there are a lot of Viking fans here. I shouldn't have said that.

I know a lot of cool Viking fans, I live there. Just too much drama for a young player from anywhere to come in and find success right now.

With Favre & Chilly gone, things will improve on that front.

Tom Brady is his guy.......his "role model" as far as football is concerned.

This draft is loaded with QB(s) with a good senior bowl and decent numbers at the combine he can work his way into that second tier of QB(s) (Ponders, Dalton, Moore)......Dalton/Moore have questions about arm strength so will see.

I think Stanzi has a chance in the NFL.

It depends on who drafts him; QB freindly system with an established QB to mentor him.

New England would be a good fit.

Not sure it helps smoot but I share your pain this year!!!

FIRE CHILLY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mel Kiper has Stanzi as a 2nd to 3rd round pick. He said of the senior QB's in this draft, Stanzi's name is the one coming up the most.

neither did joe montana. never know.

Alright, I'm gonna be the ahole who says it. I wish like hell he didn't take all this responsibility on his shoulders. I wish he'd go back to that carefree, maverick, 4th quarter come back kid who plays lights out because it's fun. Instead he seems so afraid of making mistakes that he's lost his Manzi luster. The best thing the coaches could have done is reel him in a bit when it comes to taking responsibility.

Kellen Moore won't go pro this year. I see him coming back for his senior year. He will probably break the record for career victories by a QB.

This. Say what you want about Jake Christensen, but when he was struggling, he still went out in front of the media and said what needed to be said. Can we say the same about KOK? Or does he just get to hide behind Kirk's coattails?

KOK is not hiding. NONE of the assistant coaches speak with press after games. Kirk lets them meet press in Spring and during bye week in Fall. That is Kirk's policy as HE speaks for coaching staff.

As far as Kirk taking the blame, I have never read his comments to mean he is avoiding any blame. The one thing people like about Kirk is he doesnt throw people under the bus. I challenge you to find any quote where he blamed a specific player for failing.
People criticized Alford for public criticism of players. I read your post as saying you would like to see him do it. Do you think Stanzi was coached ot overthrow McNutt or AC was coached to not contain on the key 4 and 10 play??

Agreed. Some people like to complain just to complain
