Stanzi has his helmet/Ballard

Caught the tail end of the NFL broadcast from this morning's practice. Ricky has his Iowa helmet. He was sacked on an intrasquad drill, fumbling the ball. Apparently this was supposed to be non-contact on the QBs as the defensive end got chewed out after the play.

Didn't hear any mention of Stanzi's performance so far but again I tuned in late. Ballard, also on the North team roster, received some favorable comments from Mike Mayock as being a pleasant surprise and NFL ready.

Ricky Stanzi
Monday Practice Notes: A bit disappointing as Stanzi showed poor accuracy and really struggled to get the ball down field. There were other instances where Stanzi beautifully placed his throws yet for the most part they were late arriving and receivers where constantly reaching backwards or off balance trying to make the reception.
Tuesday Practice Notes: Had his moments and throws tight spirals into the receivers hands. Makes some terrific throws then delivers a pass which leaves you scratching your head.

Christian Ballard
Monday Practice Notes: Up and down day and for the most part we’d say disappointing. Flashed quickness and power yet other times was easily handled at the point.
Tuesday Practice Notes: A very strong performance for Ballard, he ratcheted up his play from the previous day. Ballard was quick off the snap, displaying multiple moves to beat offensive linemen all practice. At times the offensive lineman could not touch the Iowa prospect, because he fired off the ball and continued to work hard. All the while, he was asked to move inside and outside from end to tackle.

If there existed a more exact synopsis of Stanzi's career at Iowa, I don't know where it would be.

**Edit - And go get 'em Christian!

The Stanzi report sounds like the last two seasons. The guy can look like frickin' Superman at times and then on the next play throw a pick 6 or take a sack putting us out of FG range.
