Stanzi and Tom Brady Comparison

While I've not always thought Pryor was the brightest bulb in the pack, this was a pretty spot-on comment. Stanzi ain't no Brady or Montana talent-wise, but he definitely has the same kind of moxie in his genes.

I think Stanzi is the one player I've seen in recent years that TRULY believes in Ferentz and the coaching. He doesn't just repeat the coach speak like a lot of other guys, it seems he genuinely believes in it. And I think that's why he's so calm.

My first thought is that Ricky is much more fragile than Tom Brady, but after some comparison- they actually list him as a few pounds heavier than Brady? Ok, size doesn't always mean tougher but my initial take is that Ricky is much more fragile than I would like him to be. Let's hope Doyle has him in some sort of program that will help him withstand the shots he will take over the course of the year! I wonder what Doyle does to prepare them? Maybe some midgets hitting him low while people yank at his face mask and drub him with whiffle bats.... (feel free to chime in on your scenario:)

Fragile how? His ankle got bent backward at a 90 degree angle while it was being fallen on. That would bring anyone down.

Also, I don't remember seeing Ricky take any hits where he has been absolutely leveled. He's never (to my recollection) take the type of hit that Clayborn gave Forcier last year.

The only time I can think of was the blitz on the bootleg against Illinois. I don't think even that one was a real big hit. Ricky is athletic enough and knows how to work his body when he's going to get hit, that he avoids the big hits. He's been injured once since he's been here, and that was a play that anyone would get hurt on. Calling him fragile for that would be like calling Brady fragile for getting hurt when Pollard rolled up on his leg.

I'm no expert, but I, for one, am growing a little tired of this comparison. Outside of the fact that he is a proven winner with a similar build, there isn't much comparison. Don't hear what I'm not saying. I wouldn't trade him for another QB in the Big Ten currently, but he definitely has a lot of room for improvement to be considered a Brady clone.

I think that unlike Pryor, Stanzi managed to stay on an NFL roster as a QB.
