Iowa has been very good passing on third down and they have been doing it quite a bit; 60 attempts (4th), 66.7% (2nd), QB Rating 179.30 (2nd). Stanley benefits from more time to pass, whether is is from the shotgun or rolling out.

He does spectacularly on 3rd and 7-9 yards; 22 attempts (1st), 77.3% (1st), 220.94 QB rating (1st). Short 1-3 yard passing attempts on 3rd down have also been excellent; 13 attempts (2nd), 69.2% (2nd), QB Rating 203.16 (3rd)

The few fourth down passing plays he has had have also gone well; attempts 4 (4th), 75% (4th), QB rating 184.80

3rd and very long (10+ yards) has been more of a roll of the dice though. 2 for 5 attempts, 40% (13th), QB Rating 159.76 (3rd). The two that he made were big plays

Great stats and pertinent to why our offense has done so well the past four weeks. We must have a great offensive coordinator calling the right play in those 3rd down situations.

Iowa has been very good at making half time adjustments on offense. The stats support this.

Third quarter passing is rated 2nd in percentage 72.1%, 9th in attempts, 4th in yardage, zero interceptions, and a QB rating of 203.50 (2nd). The number of attempts is in line with the first two quarters but seems to be more effective in the third.

Third quarter rushing has been far better than any other quarter of the game; ranked 3rd in yards per attempt at 6.13, 2nd in total yards 337, on 55 attempts 11th. To contrast their yards per attempt is 3.84 in the first quarter (11th), 3.43 in the second quarter (11th), and 2.65 in the fourth quarter (13th).

Their yards per attempt in the third quarter has been roughly double what it is for the rest of the game. This might be evidence that the passing game and running game are aiding each other in the 3rd quarter. Whatever adjustments they are making at half time, they should continue.
