Standing at the game

Are you the guy that the announcer is talking about? The one that is on the baseline that should be kicked out?

:D

I was so proud to see these true Hawkeye fans rockin' it tonight. :)

Unbelievable how loud that place can be when we actually have people cheering on the team instead of sitting on their butt twiddling their thumbs.

Yes, this was a different crowd tonight. Hopefully the regulars got a lesson on how the home fans are supposed to act.

Re: Tickets going fast..
This atmosphere will be very different tonight than what people are used to at Carver. Tonight Carver Will be rocking!! Let's hope that Iowa plays to keep the fans in it

I said something similar but I am sure it got buried in all that stand or sit arguing. Awesome quote though and you nailed it.

Seriously, what are the odds? The same dull, unsmiling, white-haired old townies have been wet-blanketing Hawkeye BB and FB games for eons. It never changes.

The basketball crowd has got to get younger, winning will accomplish this. Most of these regulars have been attending since the Lute era.

So what's the age break that makes Hawk fans acceptable vintage? You need to grow up!

Spoken like a dull, unsmiling white haired townie.
People who dont bring energy and enthusiasm for the entire game should not be allowed inside CHA.
Hows that grab you, geezer?

Seriously folks, it's pathetic to rip senior citizens for wanting to attend Iowa games. I think you need to check yourself and realize that (hopefully) will be all of us one day. I saw plenty of fans 20+ years older than me standing, clapping and cheering tonight. Those same people some are ripping are the ones who pony up $$ for practice facilities etc.

I guess the handicapped people who physically can't cheer shouldn't get to go games either. Some of you people are truly sorry excuses human beings.

Wow, epic strawman.
Sourpuss old people arent handicapped. What an ignorant comparison.

:D

Was that the drunk guy with the beard wearing the hawkeye-colored zebra pants? Saw him dancing in front of the band a few times. He looked like he was having a good time.

Great post. I've been a rabid hawkeye fan for most of my 80 years, and still am. Maybe if I dyed my hair black, I would be acceptable to Vintage? Seems like an old geezer, even a lifetime Hawk fan, no longer has a place in any Hawkeye venue?

Great, those are NOT the fans we are talking about. We are talking about the ones that go to games and expect to sit the entire time and tell you to sit down. A few of them even posted in here about that is what the seats were for. One guy even suggested he was cheering louder sitting than those standing.

I highly doubt those big donors are sitting behind me. Those big donors are down on the floor and if they have wheel chairs they are behind the basket opposite the students.

No, and dammit if I get like this I won't go either. If I am unable to get involved in the game and am strapped to a chair then I will enjoy my HDTV where I can get a better view. If you do decide to go to the game then please do not take away my enjoyment by hollering at me to sit down. Go take in a baseball game or something.

The crowd was great. One question- What's stopping that "great crowd" from buying tickets the rest of the year?

And oh by the way those old geezers were some of the only fans that stuck with the program and continued to pay for season tickets through the lean years while most of the "fans" that were there tonight were the ones hitching how crappy the teams were.

Every fan has a place whether some people want to believe it or not.
