Spring Practice BOLD predictions.

One on each side of the ball, and don't sally it.

Offense: Martin-Manley pushes for #1 Wr spot

Defense: Nobody can block Mike Daniels

McCall will be the #2 back by the 3rd B1G game

Our linebackers will be very very good

and our kicker will be the spy who shagged me and will be awesome

Prater and Hyde become the best pair of corners in the conference.

Derby decides to go the TE or LB route when JVB and JW show they have really raised the bar this offseason.

Vandy comes out throwing and "leading" like a 5th yr Senior. Weinke plays his best ball yet. SO...Derby sees the writing on the wall and entertains a position switch.

With Daniels, Davis, Binns, Bigach, Cooper and rapidly developing linebackers...the defense will be surprisingly tough...and deep. Norm will make some comment about this group having the potential to be as good as the 2009 & 2010 D

Vandy is going to be a 4th year junior not a 5th year senior, however, I do hope he performs like one. Maybe that's what you meant.

Either way I agree with what you are saying. I think Vandy will separate himself from the competition by the end of spring practice. I do think Derby may have improved enough to battle for the backup role with Weinke. With Rudock coming in, I still think Derby will have a decision to make about his future.

I'm excited to hear how Morris and the other Lb's perform. Hopefully he steps into a leadership role for the D. I know that's not normal for a sophomore but he is not a normal kid. He has a great head on his shoulders and he has been around the program a long time now. I expect a big couple of years from him.

I bet Coker won't get hit much during the spring. Should also be interesting to hear how Deandre Johnson performs.

Coker has proven himself in the bowl game. Johnson will need a lot of work this spring to show what he can or cannot do. Count me in on finding out if he can be the "change of pace" back the Hawks need. Coe and McCall will both be needed sometime during the season so I hope they come in ready to go this fall.

Heiar is a starting Guard by first game

One of our CB from last year is moved to S for at least some "trial" time

If one does move to S it would be Hyde. Prater is a corner and that's where he will stay. While he is a bit undersized, he will be drafted. He has a good corner skill set and will have 3 years of starting experience.

I'm assumig people who think this switch happens are guessing Bernstine is the other corner with Miller and Hyde at S? I still think that Prater and Hyde are our CBs and Miller and Bernstine are our safeties. I like the speed and athleticism that would give us back there that we haven't had in a few years. I think Miller will be a very special player by the time he is done here.

As for my big predictions:
Carl Davis wins the other starting DT spot and makes some all-freshmen teams in D. On O Davis lives up to the hype and steps up to be our #2 WR giving us one of the best WR combos in the B10.

This will be said about Dominick Alvis. "Nobody could block him all spring, so we had to find a way to get him on the field."

Some guy we never really heard of on offense will work really hard in Spring and be on the depth chart going into fall but by the time the season starts, he will not be anywhere in the depth chart picture.

I actually think the thought is that Lowery would be the corner and Bernstine would be the 5th or 6th man. Just my 2 cents.
