Sporting News 2020 mock draft

Tua might be a good college QB, but he’s not the top overall pick. He’s just too small. I think Chase Young will be the #1 overall pick. That dudes a freak athlete. Tua won’t even be the first QB taken. These guys who come up with these mock drafts are complete idiots.

Tua played 2 games last year against teams with offenses that could shorten the game and defenses with a pulse. He in essence lost both of them. Bigly. Jalen saved him against UGA.

Tua honestly cannot read the defense on the fly. Kirby Smart and Brent Venables figured this out and the guys in the NFL will absolutely embarrass Tua. I love the Tide and I'm not super high on Nate Stanley's NFL hopes, but I think Stanley would be a better NFL QB than Tua because Stanley is really good at reading the defense. All the speed, accuracy and arm strength in the world mean absolutely nothing in the NFL if you can't read the defense within 1 second after the ball is snapped (because the pre-snap read means nothing).

When was the last time The Sporting News was even relevant? If ever?
The Sporting News was very relevant before the internet. They used to post the box scores for every baseball game, so it was a go-to source for fantasy (back then, Rotisserie) leagues.

Hey, I subscribed to The Sporting News for year, always looked forward to Ivan Maidel's articles.

The Sporting News had a radio station in the early 2000s which has morphed into SB Nation radio.

But I get your point. There are lots of mock drafts out there that all look alike to me.

I have to admit when I was reading the the draft list I was kind of hoping Nate Stanley might show in late first round but no luck there.

I think there's an outside chance Jackson could get there but he'd have to play at a 1st team all B1G level the rest of the season to even be considered, might be tough coming back from injury.

And to think Eppy, Tristan and Alaric all have eligibility left after this year.

You mean it was relevant around the same time Nebraska was.
