Spencer Petras Wants to Play

The schools and NCAA are worried about being sued, lawsuits of all kinds, and I cant blame them. At the same time I do not like how the Fed is trying to link all financial aid with "no liability involved for businesses and maybe schools". I really dont think that shit pronouncement from the govt would hold up covering other entities like private businesses and public schools which are locally operated.

Shall we just start playing football in late February or mid-March!!!

Maybe Kelly Leak's dad (William Devane) can reprise the "Let Them Play" chant on the Astrodome field from the second Bad News Bears Movie.

Only in this case the playing ain't happening. As several have pointed out the power schools can absorb this financially. And most sports people have said repeatedly that college football would be the toughest to start up.

One time anyway.

Kirk thinks we will play, said as such in a radio interview today with Anthony Herron. But that was several hours before the emergency meeting, so that interview might as well been eons ago.

I held out hope till the end but once the school presidents got involved......

I feel terrible for the kids if the season is delayed or cancelled. They have a lot invested and I appreciate their commitment and passion. However, at their age, they still think they are bulletproof. I have a grandson who has had his college football season cancelled. He is heartbroken. Grandpa Huck Finn is a bit relieved.

The last time I saw college football finances only about 20-25 major college teams out of 130 operate in the black. Most programs get state and other funding so the finances were already fragile.

Are you talking about athletic departments or football teams?

whole athletics departments. but without football and bball the schools are really in trouble and looking at club/intermural programs.
Football and basketball will survive. They make money and are not going away.

Personally I couldn’t care less if a school has rowing, synchronized swimming, golf, or lacrosse. If they can’t financially sustain themselves, they should probably go anyway.
