special teams

they're not good. In pretty much all of Iowa's 10+ win season they had good/great special teams. Now they're lucky if they can field a punt or have a punt go over 35 yards.

Iowa’s special teams definitely ride the short bus.

I would imagine that an open tryout could get 20 guys that could punt better than what they got,

don't worry guys, the future is bright with all the 1, 2 & 3 star recruits this staff is hauling in, and they'll steal some mid major recruits from teams as well..like Ball State & Toledo.

Most of the short punts in the 1st and 3rd qs were against a nasty wind. I'll give him that much leeway. But it goes back further than this game the punting has been bad. I'd much rather see Stanley just do what he'd been doing. Maybe take another full step back then where he is in the shot gun though as he's so darn close to the line but he's better then the other two guys and it's hardly debatable.
Punt retruns used to be a strength of this team now we can't even field the darn things. JVB I thought could do that gig but geesh was I wrong.

But they really want to be Hawkeyes... We don't need the flashy 4 star guys.. They have too many options. We'd rather have the ones that really want to be Hawkeyes.
