Spearman booted

Reggie Spearman was dismissed from the Illinois State football team this week for undisclosed disciplinary reasons. Well, kinda looking like his plan to showcase his extreme talents at ISU and jump to the NFL are flushed. Funny how almost none of the players that leave ever amount to anything. He was part of the huge team chemistry problems on last years team.

queue up the ferentz haters from last year.....oh, wait a minute.....

Seriously, dude, you're shtick is getting old. No one was discussing Spearman last season. He played DE and was average. And since you've brought this up, again, the "haters" have been validated by the success we're having this season. You see, this type of season is all we were expecting from the Iowa program. The "supporters" were willing to accept 7-5 or 6-6 because ferentz is a nice guy. Seriously, man, let it go.

I would love to see Iowa run the table for one reason ... to silence all of the KF bashers

one game at a time and a win today would rank as one of his best based on the walking wounded

That's the one reason? You must be a huge fan. I want them to go undefeated for two reasons. To show what can happen when Kirk finally decides to get out of his own way, AND because it would be ****!ng awesome!

Geeez. You don't understand that the "haters" are the ones that have been validated by this season, so far, and that the Kool-Aid drinkers are the ones being made to look foolish. Keep on keepin' on.

All this shows is that Ferentz has the power to get the best players kicked of the team at ISU. Why does Ferentz keep up with his former players and do this to them? Why can't Kirk move on?

your memory is lacking.

but i apologize for my bad behavior here. you don't remember coach ferentz getting 'bashed' for kids like spearman leaving the team? i'm sorry, i'm probably the one hallucinating, or revising history.

here is an example of one of those reax i'm referring to:

"So let's just get this straight...going into this past season, literally the TWO underclassmen this board was most excited about were Spearman and Willies. NEITHER were utilized to meet their skillset. Neither got along great with the staff. Both are bringing their talents elsewhere. There's a lot to be optimistic about in IC these days."

Sometimes young raw talent doesn't pan out...for many many reasons. It's why development is so important for teams like Iowa, we simply aren't going to simply recruit our way to depth like many of the perennial top 10-15 teams can.

Development is absolutely critical, and excess attrition(like experienced multiple years since '04) so badly effects teams like Iowa.

You have to have both solid recruiting AND development to sustain reasonable success, if I had to choose, and sometimes unfortunately we do, I'd take development.

If you're gonna be drama, your talent better be worth it.

Average talent at best + drama = not worth the hassle

OK OP give us some facts on the bolded statement please. How did spearman mess with team chemistry last year. I can understand he was probably dejected losing his starting position and then getting hurt.

How was he bad chemistry.

No, he was getting bashed for the overall attrition, which is the highest in the B1G and for good players leaving for lack of playing time. Spearman was lumped in with everyone; so again, no one was talking about Spearman. My memory is just fine. And who would you have had Spearman play in front of, Meier or Ott?

Which poster are you quoting?

I could give you multiple examples but there's no sense getting into a drawn out discussion. So, here's one big documented example: 10/25/2014 - mid season, game in the morning, Spearman out partying gets drunk and arrested for OWI and suspended for the behavior. Focused, team player he was.

I'd say, just reading that, SOMEone has thrown down some of that "funny" Kool-Aid. The Jim Jones complex MAY just reside in the "hater" camp.

"Drink up, people...die with dignity...and know that WE will make the team better, not the coach...not the players...drink people...drink..."

This post would make sense...if he had played at DE. He was "projected" there, but he played at LB last year.
