Speaking of Call in Shows

What ever happened to Eric Thigpen (ET) and the other guys from last year on AM800/AM600 The show was Hawkeye Huddle and this year it is not as good as it was last year. WHAT GIVES? I used to ride home listening to it, these last two weeks ive had to turn it off after giving it too generous a chance. WTF LEARFIELD COMMUNICATIONS??!!
 


Eric thigpen ****** off the entire Iowa athletic department and was not asked to return.
 




Bob Bruce ran the huddle w/Thigpen. Bruce missed having weekends off and wanted to attend games as a fan. Although I pretty sure he was hammered towards the end of the huddles last year. It became more entertaining especially if it was a later game and he had time to get his swerve on. Think Harry Caray in the 80's.
 


As I understand it Bruce would get hammered and Thigpen was overly critical of nearly every facet of the program, and ****** off the athletic department. Some of the things Thigpen said made me wonder how he kept his job.

ET bashed a lot of players, Shada and A.Rob come to mind, ragged on A Rob all last year calling him too slow to be a big ten back. Still the show was at least entertaining.

Ed "4 Touchdown" Hinkel is about as dry as toast. Good luck to them though I hope they find a groove and get interesting in a hurry, otherwise it'll be Music and NPR on the way home from future games. In true ET fashion the last two shows were HOT GARBAGE!
 






Yeah, that show lacks personality this year.

Thigpen and Bruce were high quality entertainment, but like others have mentioned, offensive to players at times.
 




I found myself laughing so hard I was in tears based on some of Thigpen's comments, but many callers developed a strong dislike for him and the show would turn into a war of words. Shawn "toast" Prater became Shawn "burnt toast" Prater...very critical of DB's and play calling if memory serves. It was a good listen, but I knew it would get the hook.
 


Was Bruce really drunk on the shows? I know one near the end of last season he totally sounded blitzed.

Haven't listen yet this season.
 


Thigpen is an *******. I don't care if he played the game, he is still and ******* and seemingly hates the football team, I don't know why anyone would like to listen to him. Unless they also hate the football team.

I actually remember Thigpen sticking up for players quite a bit when callers would call in complaining. He was hard on the DB's tho.
 


I have a hard time imagining a call-in panel being LESS insightful than Bruce & Thigpen. I don't mind people calling it like they see it, but ET was just an idiot. Then when you consider the weekly segment where they would discuss ET's having been recruited by all the 'big-time programs' OR how many options he had with the ladies...Yeah, that show was terrible.
