Spartans Spanking Sullinger/Ohio State.....

Michigan State giving the Buckeyes all they can handle in Columbus. They led at halftime 35-25. Sullinger had 6 turnovers early in the second half. Spartans playing nasty gangster ball, with sneers and rough play all around.....

Ohio State trying to whittle the lead, but Michigan State keeping it around ten.....

Very interesting game, as they both are the pride of the B1G this year. Very nice to see Ohio State knocked back on their heels. The Spartans have a nasty Badboy style this year. Didn't like it when they played the Hawks, but really enjoy seeing them give it to the Buckeyes.....

:)

Now a 6-point game. Announcers went off a little on Valentine and Big Ten officials (Hightower) in general for their theatrics and desire to be the center of attention. Absolutely loved it!

That was awesome, but there really isnt "Big Ten" officials.

Sullinger now has a triple double with points, rebounds and turnovers. The Buckeyes lose the 2nd longest home winning streak in the country at 39 games.

True, but basically there are. It's the same guys all the time that have Big 10 games.
Interestingly enough ... Eddie Hightower did the Illinois State @ UNI game in Cedar Falls last night. I was listening on the radio and Gary Rima commented when Eddie came out for the game that is was unusual to see him there.

Sullinger struggled last night as he has no left hand, there were a lot of shots that he allowed to be contested because he shot with the wrong hand.
He is a very good player, but needs to develop his left hand as he is not the most athletic big man.

Did you even watch the game? Sounds like you didn't. Sullinger was terrible because he was doubled and tripled all night by very long and athletic Michigan State players and the Buckeyes couldn't make them pay by hitting outside shots (2-15 from 3). It had nothing to do with his left hand. Not surprising analysis from someone who hilariously claimed Zeller hasn't done a whole lot in the Big 10.

Watched the whole thing and thanks again for your concern...go back and watch how many open shots he missed going with his right hand and allowing them to be challenged.

You are right he was doubled a lot, so he didn't pass out of it well, but he forced things as well.

Even after watching MSU play like junk and lose to Illinois I still thought they were a legit NCAA title team. They can defend and they are long which will help them against Kentucky and UNC. And they have enough offense that they can win it. I think they have the best chance of any Big 10 team. Sullinger will struggle with teams that have length.

Since I watched the game I saw him being collapsed on by multiple bodies on all sides all night. To say he had all these open shots inside with either hand is a fantasy.

Izzo is an excellent coach in general, but I think what he does better than any other coach in the country is prepare his team to peak at the end of the season. With very rare exceptions his teams are always playing their best ball at tournament time.

I also admire his teams' "do what we gotta do" attitude. If that means they need to play physical, garbage defense to keep someone off their game (ala Sullinger) then they have both the mentality and the toughness to do.

OSU needs Buford,Smith,Craft and Thomas to hit from the arc,to give Sully room to operate. Only Craft made anything from outside in this game, and that is the formula to beat OSU. This does make them vulnerable in the tourny. No Diebler and Lighty to shoot from the arc.

OSU and MSU are the cream of the league, and if things fall right, could make the FF.
MSU has some of the same issues as OSU,tho. Outside shooting falls to Green and Appling, with Thornton only occasionally consistent. If Payne keeps improving, they could win the league and roll to the FF,tho. He is an X factor with his scoring touch in the paint. This race should go to the final game in East Lansing now...that will be epic.

Sullinger needs to not bring the ball to his gonads so often. His bulk makes it ok not having having a great left hand. But he needs to be quick with his movements because he doesn't spring off of the floor.

If Ohio State is not hitting from the outside, they will fall in the tournament, just as they did last year.....

Thought they would make the final four last year, but the seeding was not kind to them, and they couldn't hit from the perimeter against Kentucky.....

They were in the toughest region with North Carolina, Kentucky and Syracuse.....

:)
