I happened to catch Andrew Fleming for the first time last night on the U. My first impression is that he is very similar to Kingsbury. Similar build, ability to pass and take it to the rim as well as hit the 3. Doesn't have the deep range of Kingsbury, but very similar in all other areas on the court. I think we are going to be pleased with this pick up. Trolls, save your off the court comparison comments as well.

With the current rosters of kids he plays with and plays against, he'll be ready to step in and contribute imo.....can't wait to see what he can do...

Kingsbury was a McDonald's AA. I think the comparison ends at white and going to Iowa. Kingsbury is a legend, Andrew Fleming was going to walk-on at OSU.

I believe Flemming was 5th on his high school team in scoring. Kingsberry was first in his entire state in scoring.

1) His name was spelled Kingsbury. sheeeesh

2) Fleming has a great shot at being at Iowa longer than Chris.
As I recall, he got kicked out.

3) It's really bad form to knock a HAWKYE RECRUIT before he gets to
Campus. That's really, really low, bad form.

GO HAWKS

If Kingsbury and Fleming were coming in at the same time I wouldn't say Fleming wouldn't beat out Kingsbury. Its going to be interesting how it all works out for Fleming. He is going to have a lot more competition than Kingsbury every did. I liked Kingsbury, but I wouldn't consider him as one of the all time greats at Iowa.

Fleming plays for Oak Hill Academy. The #1 prep school in the country. Go ahead and hate on Fleming, you will eat those words in the near future.

The thing I like is that he plays on the #1 prep school team in the country and plays meaningful minutes down the stretch of games. Although I do like his ability to score he looks to have a lot of intangibles that coaches love. Even if he doesn't end up being the top scorer I think he brings a lot more to the table. He has a reputation of taking good shots, feeding his teammates and simply making good decisions. Practicing with that team and going up against top competition this year will pay huge dividends for him as well imo.

I think he reminds me more of Gatens. Has a college ready body, decent hops, 6'5 with a great stroke. He is also a cerebral player. I would not be at all surprised if he gets the most playing time out of all of the freshman next year.

How is pointing out an objective point about Fleming's role on his team "hating" on him? The fact is, the guy is overlooked on his team by his teammates and defenses alike. It's nice that he's on a great team, but he is not one of the primary or even secondary guys on the squad. Similar to Jake Rudock playing on the #1 ranked football team in the country 4 yrs ago. His team was great, and Jake's skills appeared better than they were because he was throwing the ball to D1 studs against high school secondaries. Personally, I'll take the super star on a .500 team over a 5th or 6th man on a great team. We won't know what Fleming will become until he gets on campus.

You do realize he led his last high school to two championships in Tennessee and was Mr. Basketball once or twice in Tennessee as a Soph or Junior. He was the go to player but then realized he could learn more by up-ing the competition. Its more the fact the coach has said that Bacon is one of the best players he has ever coached and Fleming is behind him on the depth chart.

"hater "...Urban Dictionary
A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

It looks like he scored zero points yesterday on 0-3 shooting, and had three points today. Averaging one point pregame for a great team sounds to me like the next Jake rudock.

Obviously you didn't watch the game today. He had at least 9 pts that I can remember and was the only player on the court for Oak Hill who didn't go to the bench during the last 6 minutes of the game. Oak Hill is obviously full of players who don't know how to pass the ball. Every trip down the court was clear out plays with someone taking it on their shoulders to get to the hoop. There was three trips down the floor where Montverde took charges (one was from Fleming, which was a play that gets a charge called half of the time, but he made the layup). He looked under control and played good defense, even helped get a 5 second call. I think he is one of the few players on Oak Hill who actually tried to play team ball, and I think it will benefit him at the next level.

Would Kingsbury be a Mc AA these days? I think things have changed quite a bit in this last decade.

But you are usually spot on, so your probably right.

Fleming team would probably have beaten Kingsburys team by a bagillion. Apples vs. Hand grenades....

carry on though, ya big Hawkeye fan you.

Regarding the question in your first sentence....the answer is because you hate on everything Hawkeye, all the time. Your next post resembling anything not hater, will be your first.
