Some Tragic News From Jack Campbell’s Family

Really terrible.

I'm convinced that being a great person is a risk factor for tragic outcomes...

What a great person, player and ambassador Jack has been for our program. I absolutely hate seeing him move on but also wish him and his family nothing but the best moving forward.

It says he was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, so must have been in Nashville with the rest of the family. Just terrible.

Parents told him after the game, talk about a human tragedy. Just is such a terrible twist of fate.

His grandfather was killed in a car accident last night, family waited to tell him until after the came.

Completely horrible for the whole family. As someone who lost both of my parents young and 100% unexpectedly, I’m torn up for the kid.

Send him some love on Twitter, Facebook, whatever platform you have

Yeah, Fry, my mother passed when I was a junior at Dowling

My aunt who was a secular nun moved from Philadelphia to help my dad raise four of us,
and we were a Handful

The family did the right thing to wait to tell Jack

Grandparents usually pass from old age, when it is a sudden violent situation, that makes it much
more difficult. Jack has a lot of support, family and friends, students and teammates which will
help.

Brings back memories of Mark Mitchell losing his mother just before the Alamo Bowl in 1996.

Only she was killed in a vehicle accident while en route to San Antonio and it was couple days before the game, Mark and the team were aware of it before the game, and to pay tribute they stripped the Tiger Hawk decals reminiscent of 1991 Ohio State and the campus shooting.

And like Campbell, Mitchell was a linebacker.

Campbell will remember every detail of yesterday, good and bad. It's like that kind of trauma burns the whole day into your brains hard drive permanently for some reason.

I remember every detail of the days my mom and dad died like watching a movie. What I was wearing, the sandwich I was eating when they told me my dad died, everyone I talked to, etc. It's weird. I can close my eyes and replay it in high def.

Sounds like they were close, I hope he's got enough support around him for the next few days, sounds like there's no lack of it from teammates and staff which is more important than wins/losses.
