Sokol leaving

I hear the Clones need a QB.

But seriously, the kid seems like he has some talent. Hope he finds a spot where he can play for a year.

Not surprising. Hope the kid can find a school where he can step in and start for his last year. Definitely has ability.

What's the point? Just stay and get your degree at Iowa. So what if he never plays. If he cant make at least 2nd string at Iowa, then he is not going to make an NFL roster. A degree at Iowa is much more valuable in the long run.

unless he had no intention of ever getting his degree at Iowa, then I guess he should go where he can play.

BUT He should go ask AJ Derby or Jake christensen how those transfers worked out. I much more admire the John Wienke's of the world who stick around and try to help where they can.

Isn't Derby starting in the SEC right now?

Somewhere, out there, hwk23 is planning world domination and Cody Sokol is transferring to be his General. His average yards per pass is off the freakin charts man!

Not sure I follow this post. Iowa isn't Harvard.. I'm sure Sokol could get a good education at any number of schools, and I can't blame him for wanting to go where he could have a better chance to play. He seems to be buried on the depth chart at Iowa.

Saw that Morehouse tweeted that per Hawkeyereport, Sokol is looking for a new school.

Not a surprise. He's not an Iowa kid, so he has no ties to the state. He saw the not so subtle writing on the wall. Assuming he's leaving because he wants to play. From what I've read, he was given a fair shot, and he got beat out. No shame in that. Good luck to him.

Best of luck to Cody. I appreciate the fact that he came in and competed; we needed to have some real competition for the QB spot and it made us a better team in 2013. I don't blame him one bit, BTW.

its possible I am mixing him up with another player, but I thought when he committed to iowa, he cited the opportunity to graduate with a degree from Iowa as part of his motivation to come to Iowa. But i guess I must be thinking of someone else.

He IS going to get his degree. He will graduate in May and then transfer to school where he will have good chance to play in 2014, his final year of eligibility.

Oh, in that case I apologize. Then it makes perfect sense to go somewhere else if his #1 goal in his final year is to play.

congratulations and good luck, Cody.
