I don't know about dirty. But I'd take a guy like Craig Neal that delivers talent, seemingly through playing game. I don't know how Tyler smith ended up at Iowa, but I don't think it was because he liked the ped mall and we went to a lot of his school games.

Absolutely! I'll take a Final Four or a Rose Bowl, even if it does get stripped from us. What's the NCAA gonna do, give us Penn State-like sanctions where we only go 6-6 after a couple of years?
I've always wondered what other Iowa fans thought about Hayden's program. I've always thought that he bent/broke rules (no proof or rumors) and really don't care. I don't think he played by the rules of the institution (NCAA, Big Ten, U of I), but followed what other coaches did to play on a level playing field. This is what I wish our current coaches would do (if they're not already).
To restate, I have no proof that JHF broke any rules, just a hunch that he scratched where it itched.

I'm with ya dude. The problem is, we don't even have a guy on the bench that we can say would make a huge difference, but can't because the stubborn coach won't play him.
I'll have to say, though, that I just googled Keith Lee and I was thinking he wore goggles, but I didn't see any pictures of him with goggles. Then I thought of Baskerville Holmes, but no goggles. Do you know who I might be thinking of? You're always a fountain of useless information.

Barta needs to be gone. Iowa is hamstrung at both basketball and football and it is all on Barta.

That doesn't mean I think Iowa should go out and hire Jim Harrick or Kelvin Sampson.. Those coaches will be fired inside of 2 years and Iowa on probation. We don't need THAT.
But I think Iowa needs to hire a coach that isn't afraid to play rough on the recruiting trail, take a chance here and there on a talented player who may have a bit of a checkered past, etc. in order to get some real talent into the program. Someone cut from the cloth of a Scott Drew or Fred Hoiberg. Not necessarily THOSE guys, but someone LIKE them. Or a Bruce Pearl.
Either that, or throw the bank at the best, most established coach they can get that's a proven winner and try to lure them. Not sure if that's a long list, but get the best coach you can who would be interested in coaching a Big Ten program, and the dollars that would come with it. Go for the gold.
IMO, an entire change in attitude in the athletic department is needed. This "nice guy" approach doesn't seem to be working.. Iowa doesn't have the cache where you can just bring in anyone and expect to attract good talent. Gotta find a guy that can seriously tear it up on the recruiting trail.

Sad, that a bunch of grown men want us to cheat just so we can win a bunch of bb games. Really sad state of affairs and a reflection of the sad state of society in general. I know you are likely kidding. But I truly believe that Fran has tried his very best to get talent here and for whatever reason it just hasn't got here yet. Meanwhile the Hoiburger clown in AMES is realing in talented TRANSFER and TRANSFER. Something smells and one of these days when the NCAA comes sniffing Hoiburger will bolt for the NBA and ISU will be left holding the trash.
