So you hit the reset button, now what?

It is obvious our shooters do not have the confidence to do what they are capable of doing. The half-court offense is a disaster without any shooters. It wasn’t that great to begin with – guard Gesell, who is not a deep threat nor finish at the rim, and you are golden. That was proven last year. What do you do now?

Changing the starting lineup absolutely cannot hurt. How could it? At least change it at the start of the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half. Definitely… Nothing less than Gabe & Jok...Please. Maybe Clemmons at PG.

Redo the half-court offense. Abandoning the 3 point shot would be good. Or rather - ignore it... We are jinxed at 20 feet, 9 inches. So, try the 15-19 footers and see what happens. It may tighten the half-courtoffense, but not NEARLY as much as our current 3pt shooting does. Nobody has to even defend us on theperimeter. That said, even Woody & White can make 15 footers, so try it…

Something has to be done with the half-court offense. What would you do?

We need to get the ball inside. We need post touches and we need to drive it to the rim. And take open 3 on kickouts. We can even be reckless on the drives for all I care. Try to get fouled, put the onus on officials. Jok, Uthoff, white, Woodbury, oleasani should all attack the basket as much as possible. Either on post ups, face up an drives, or off the bounce.

This team cant shot jumpers. and Long 2 point jump shots are terrible shots from an efficiency standpoint.

The mid-range shot may not be all that efficient, however our 3pt efficiency is sh_t. worst in the league, no doubt. I would like to see the mid-rang season numbers so far. The mid-range effort would be to help create something on the inside.... What 3 point kickouts we do do, ain't workn... There has to be something in an offense that keeps the defense honest. Find our highest percentage guys and see what happens... We need better half- court sets, too. Get creative Fran, but keep it simple!

Start with changing the line up - start Gabe and Jok and bring Woody and Clemmons off the bench. Then our best offense is when we run, lets turn up the defensive pressure and get some turnovers. Start getting lay ups and wide open shots in transition where our shooters can shot without having time to think about it. FULL COURT PRESS

run some 1-3-1 on half-court defense......try some more trapping in half court defense to force some turnovers.

If we start to shoot like we are capable of doing, we will win. Other than missing out on a couple guard recruits, Fran has done fine. I would say he could change his half court offense a bit, but it wouldn't matter with the way these guys are missing open shots...

For all of our problems, passing is a huge one that doesn't get mentioned. I've never seen so many simple passes be so off the mark. When a guy is stationary waiting to shoot a 3 and the pass is low or to the side, it messes up everything. The shooter either doesn't get a shot off or he misses it. How tough is it to throw a ball to a guy's hands?

Oglesby's pass to Jok was a pass that should be perfect 99.9% of the time and he throws it between his legs. I don't want to single him out because those passes happen all the time with this team. They just haven't always resulted in turnovers.

It's not just inaccurate passes either. We also simply don't see easy passes to wide open shooters all the time. When we do make the pass it's usually a split second late. And I'm just talking about the perimeter passes right now. I don't even want to get starting on our post feeds.

Our passing game does tend to suckballs, now that you mention it.... I was thinking the other day how we rarely have a nifty pass for an assist. Part of that is coaching, and setting up the play. I think Ben Jacobson excells at coaching these types of plays. Part of it are your players... But then, just hitting the easy pass, like you mention, is a big enough chore. The passing game could definitely use some work...
