So who's going to sit out the bowl games?

This is a relatively new and interesting concept. Top-tier college players sitting out the exhibition (non playoff) bowl games in order to stay healthy for draft day. My initial list (if they don't make the playoffs):

Baker Mayfield
JT Barrett
Saquon Barkley

Was actually thinking about this this week. Really don't know which would. Josh Rosen seems flaky enough to do it. I'm sure some prima donna WR will do it. I really don't buy it. I realize an injury cost Jake Butt, but really, it's an excuse to sit. Really would think twice about drafting a guy that did this.

My personal over/under is #5 players sitting out. Up from #3 a year ago. And will continue to rise IMO.

Barrett should play he needs to get as much on film as possible. He probably feels some loyalty to Urban for sticking by him so if OSU wins out I think he plays.

I don’t think there’s any chance Baker Mayfield sits out. He’s too competitive, and too Boomer Sooner to sit. He’s not that guy. As much as I don’t care for his antics, he’s a baller and competitive as hell.

If there is a solid draft projection on them they can take out insurance to give them a lot of money in case of injury.

Any likely first or second rounder is a dumbass if they don’t sit out.

I’m sorry for the ra-ra-ra butthurt folks among us who think players are betraying their teammates, but with today’s crazy rookie contracts and the average career of a player making a 53 man roster at only 6 years long, you better make sure you get to grab that bank.

There's no reason to sit out a bowl game when the players that are sure to be drafted can easily get a $5M or $10 M policy from Lloyd's of London to cover any injury that prevents them from playing professionally.
Never forget that THE ULTRA prima-donna (he who shall not be named) from Stanford was the one that started this trend.
