A young exciting head coach from a mid-major college with one or two successful seasons or a young assistant coach from a big time college basketball university with a history of numerous conference championships and NCAA appearances?
I realize we've been down the road of the first scenario before. But I'm also not convinced that Bruce Pearl or any of the other names being thrown at the wall will stick. I do believe that if we do end up looking for a new head coach that it needs to be someone with a past Iowa connection. The program needs someone that understands what the program once was and realizes the importance to the fans to have that tradition back.
I ask because I've read many here who think that guy is Keno. I'm not buying that. I think he understands the history. And would bring an exciting style of play as well a familiarity with long time BB fans. But I'm not convinced his resume warrants a potential hire of this magnitude.
Or would you be more happy with one of Pearls assistants for example with Iowa connections? Or perhaps some of the assistants I've heard mentioned from programs like Duke that employ coaches with midwest roots and bleed Big Ten blood?
I realize I'm the farthest from a college basketball expert and the discussion we've been having the last few days are pure speculation at this point. But I thought I'd add to it.
