I know you are frustrated with trying to babysit all the people on this site who don't understand the legal implications of spreading defamatory rumors online, but take a step back and realize that it is still a message board.

And as the person who started the original "ostrich" thread asking about a rumor from TOS, it might be time to take your own advice and step away from the keyboard.

But if you need to "crack down" on the use of these terms then good luck on your site.

I am about to be banned so I will head over to some of the other sites.

The key is he is the provider of the message board forum you seem to feel is your right to turn into a pile of ****. Because you are allowed access it doesn't guarantee your right to do anything you want. If that is really that hard for you to accept you really need to go to another board and feel free to do as you like there.

There are about 20 people that think the Ostrich and Chad stuff is funny...and another 19980 people that visit this site each day that don't.

I make decisions or write opinions that people don't agree with nearly every day. I'll live with the 'fallout' of this one. I care a lot more about the 19980 than I do the 20.

If you want to carry on with the Ostrich or Chad or other beaten into the ground meme stuff, the off topic forum is a good place for it, and it's for these reasons I have made it opt in to read on the landing page.

Inside jokes that few people even get or care about is a quick way to turn the masses off to a forum. I have been doing this for 11 years, and feel comfortable with my grasp on such things.

If you, or others, don't care for this sort of moderation approach, that's OK too. There are other options and sites where people can go and post such things. I am just not going to sit by and watch a very, very, very small group of posters beat their inside jokes into the ground and drive a bunch of people away in the process.

These sorts of 'purges' pop up every couple of years or so. Seems like we're at that point again right now. I'll be glad to continue this discussion with you via PM or email.
