So that's what a months prep gets us?

So let me get this strait. Florida was missing all their starting LBs. Along with some other good players on defense and they did that to us? Iowa had one reception by a WR all game long of like 11 yards? 55 yards passing total.... 3 ints (yes they were pretty much in garbage/desperation time) I just don't get how Davis wouldn't step down. KF should do what Saban did and have the bus leave him because to me that's the most obvious glaring thing that needs changing. If with a months worth of prep can only generate that against a respectable team then what the heck were they doing all month long? I thought they tried to get Kittle involved early but not nearly enough throughout the game. And against all those backup LBs that's what they should have been doing. But there was still little execution there too obviously.

Now let's get to the end of the game. KF should have had CJ out of there with most of the 4th q to go. Game was over and CJ was hurt. You can't listen to the player when it comes to injuries. Of course he's not coming out unless you pull him. So that's on KF and KF alone. If he would have gotten hurt worse and messed with his draft stock (which the game itself before him getting hurt wasn't exactly helping it) I wonder how CJs family would have felt about that.. Why is the right thing to do so difficult? I know he's a senior and yadda yadda. But the dude was hurt and coming back to win that game was not happening... Him taking a pounding and trying to go all Brett Farve out there wasn't going to change how anyone felt about him. He owed it to him to protect him and get him out of there...

I think this game gives a lot of insight to what KF and his staff think about bowl games. They see it more of as a vacation and a reward. It was evident Iowa had no interest in winning the game when the decision was made to keep CJ in.

We as a fan base have to start lowering expectations.

And I'm well aware that Florida has 2 stud corners out there. And they have other good players obviously. I'm not meaning to be dissing them at all when I say that what Iowa did out there was embarrassingly unacceptable. We don't want to put any blame on CJ cause we've seen what he can do when not only healthy but has weapons and more aggressive play calling. I would have thought there'd have been some more creative plays to be thrown out there. It's like Iowa never planed for what if they got behind 2 scores or more. You can't maintain pounding the ball as your ONLY offense. If your going to be that one dimensional you have to be dominant at it. Iowa's running game was ok against that respectably good team. Good enough to help win I would go out there on a limb and say. But only if it would have been complimenting a passing game. Not all by itself...

Its almost as if, they watch 'film' turn off the projector, and decide to run the same 4 plays that got us here.
No doubt there was a possession where they were in the I formation and ran the same play to the short side of the field 2 times in a row for like 6 yards threw incomplete on 3rd down and punted... I mean really? Even if your going to run the ball you can at least use some more formations and be less predictable about it. If your going to play the style Iowa wants to play you need to mix it up and not just throw away possessions basically

Kirk Ferentz: "I'm just not sure what I would change this month." Liked the way team prepared, liked the game plan.

Sad
Florida liked the game plan also. Saban is all about winning even if it means firing people. KF not so much.

I listened to the post game show, if you didn't know the score you would have sworn the hawks won, BJ,s were being handed out like parade candy.

Nobody really cares, that's football, couldn't be prouder.

I have been arguing we raise them

It is lonely out here in the wilderness

I think they wanted to win....they just don't have the scheme or the players to do it.

LOL could not believe it myself. Then Dolphs talking about the great promise on the D-Line waxing glowingly about a walk-on from a small town in Iowa. Right! It's comical.

I was at the game, the Florida fans were laughing about our 4th and goal and our run up the middle. They said that hadn't worked all year for other teams why did Iowa think think they could do it. Made fun of our OC the entire game, I was embarrassed, Fire Davis Now!
