So much for Diaco as KFz's successor

Well I wouldnt say KF did a superb job in his first head coaching job and Maine. I hope Diaco gets another chance but if not he can make a great living as a DCoord.

We all know how KF was hired and there is no need to rehash it all. I know he blew away the interview committee, but given his resume at the time it still amazes me he got the Iowa job. Remember Belichek wasn't the Belichek we know now when KF was hired. Fortunately, it all worked out, but the Ferentz hire could have easily been a dumpster fire.

At the time KF left the Iowa program Hayden Fry said out loud that KF would one day be an excellent head coach. Hayden had a lot of pull over his successor and his opinion was highly valued. It was a two horse race between Stoops and Ferentz. Obviously the outcome we know.

It will be several years before we need to worry about this so Diaco has plenty of time to redeem himself... assuming B. Ferentz isn't already being groomed for the job.

Any room at Iowa for him? He is the DC that I've wanted for a while. I understand Phil has done a good job and shouldn't be fired, but he
Won't be here forever. Maybe put him on the same track as Brain (on the defensive side) and see who is more ready when Kirk finally steps down

Given Iowa's propensity for successfully converting "football players" from one side to the other, I say give it a try with "football coaches". ;)
Diaco's potential would be an immediate upgrade as the OC.:D

I agree uihawk82. That was just a tough gig for him or anyone to begin with. It somewhat surprises me that coaches will do that. I think coaches are better off staying a stud assistant for a big program when it comes to raising their profile then risking taking a head job at a school like that.
