So MSU does it again.

Some teams can just get what they need when they want. Something about Izzo teams at the end of the year and at tourney time (or practically almost anytime they play us).

They have playmakers for sure.

Not really a big fan of Izzo or Bo Ryan but hey, 2 Big Ten teams in the Final four is ok by me.

Izzo's a helluva coach. Gotta give credit where due.

Yep. The guy knows how to groom his teams thru the year so they're primed at tourney time. Maybe the best coach at this who's currently coaching today. When the lights go up, his teams are at their peak. Always.

Do you realize both Izzo & Ryan have won more games after the first round this year than Davis did in his last twelve years at Iowa.

Not sure how Izzo does it year after year.... this is probably one of his "worst" teams and they are again in the final four... He is truly a heck of a coach.

This year's Izzo team maybe underperformed and was a really good Center away from being top 10 or top 5. Costello and the other guy, schilling, are ok, sort of like Woody and Gabe but they were not the normal presence izzo has in the post.

And Dawson as they say can disappear so I would say MSU was underseeded for their talent.

I agree with posters that I also hate Bo & Izzo but they get it done. They have my respect and it is crazy to think how we have to compete with these programs year in, year out.

I also agree that this might be Izzo's most improbable final four team. They still have some excellent players but they are not loaded to the degree they have been in the past. I have hated Travis Trice with a passion but I have to admit he is a very good player. I am also really impressed with Valentine's play this year. He was so erratic his freshman and part of his sophmore year. Now he is so tough and so good.

You can say that again..

In the meantime, go zags misses 3's with regularity against Duke, as they did in their last game. But, never missed against Iowa. And, to be clear, they are getting open looks. Zags bigs best I have seen all year. 51 points with 3:38 to go. Geez.

Not sure what your point is. Your hate for Mr. Davis is weird.

I do not hate coach Davis. As a matter of fact, I think he was an excellent basketball coach. However, even with the original snake-oil salesman, he couldn't recruit. Coach Davis won absolutely nothing at Iowa. What I don't understand is how people on the boards think Davis was the greatest thing since sliced bread. When Raef LaFrenz was asked why he chose Kansas: his reply was that Roy Williams made him feel special. You know why? Williams attended everyone of his games that he could attend. Davis never went to Raef's high school games, he sent his assistants. Heck, Davis was so lazy when it came to recruiting, he didn't even attend the Iowa high school basketball tournament. Davis played Iowa & the fans as suckers.

Davis took over a team with six future NBA players. Seven if you count Les. Three years later he was four & fourteen in the conference. When Davis took over the program, fans had to donate money to get split season tickets. At the end, Iowa couldn't even fill the place. All Fran has to do next year is go two & sixteen in the conference & he will have the same conference record as Davis did in years four through six. I don't hate Davis. Man he could coach, but he didn't have the driving, unrelenting desire to win like Izzo & Ryan. What drives me nuts is that people think Davis was to Iowa as Wooden was to UCLA.

Really, Davis should have had 1 conference regular season title (perhaps at least a piece of it) as Minny cheated the one year they won it. I believe Iowa finished 2nd that year behind them (though they may have been tied for 2nd..don't remember).

You cant say say 6 words "I do not hate coach Davis" and then use 200 words ripping on him. Just admit to yourself that you hate him, because it is pretty obvious to the rest of us that you hate him.

Hate is a strong word but that is some seriously strong dislike of Mr. Davis.
