tos headline says smith and iowa have parted ways. hope that doesn't hurt our chances with faith, diamond or any of the other il recruits. hopefully it means we are sitting good with garmon.

I'm disappointed because I thought he had the game to be real good. But there always seemed to be an air of question around him and I wonder if academics or character issues have played a role in this.

I don't know if it's a good sign or not but this is similar to what happened last year just before we pocked up commits from McCall and Coe. We parted ways with the kid from Blue Springs, Missouri. Miller was his name right?

Iowa did not pull his offer. I am not sure he was ever the #1 choice for Iowa, although maybe he thought he was.
Will just wait and see how this works out. Maybe a RB who Iowa regards highly has begun to show interest or Garmon is giving stronger indications. Who knows.

maybe we'll find an under that radar 2 star player that will commit

This kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. How is this going to affect Fleming? or Faith?
I think Flemming will be fine. Iowa wasn't quitting the recruiting process but Smith didn't like not being numero uno, so he changed. Could it affect other recruits maybe, but hopefully if they want to come to Iowa it is for the team and not for one buddy who doesn't want to go to Iowa.

This is bad if Garmon doesn't commit. If Garmon commits all this gnashing of teeth will go.

not to worried about Ekakitie as Ward and Fleming are still working on him to come to Iowa, the problem with Smith as i pointed out in the recruiting thread is that this is very similar to the situation Iowa had with Leak and Tate, one would come but not if the other came, same thing here as Garmon is the top target,
Garmon is announcing at a All Star game in early January, I feel the coaches want to wait on their top target and can afford to wait with the current RB depth on the roster
Coker will be just a JR, McCall a sophamore and 2-3 solid reserves, so they can afford to actually be picky
besides they still are in the running for Dami Ayoola out of St Thomas of Florida, very close in ranking for the star gazers
so no need to worry about RB recruits
