Situation looks very familar

As this unfolds, this looks very much like what happended to Nebraska Football. Callahan came in and alienated past players and fans. He had no ties to the fan base and was numb to all the passion in the state. He was an enemy in his own state.

After five years, and major defeats, Tom Osborne, the man from the past, was brought in to stop the bleeding and took over as AD. Nearly 300 consecutive sellouts were about to come to an end.

Who was brought back to coach, a passionate assistant who was denied the job when Callahan was hired. Within two years, the history and passion is back in the state as strong as ever.

See the similarity? If this is what is happening here, a similar solution exists. Just look at who really wants to be here and who many fans can relate to.

I am not an expert on Keno Davis, but not only is he a grad, but his ties to Mr. Davis (like Mr. Davis O) are there. He has two solid assistants, good with recruiting and an past player in Rodell Davis.

The similarity is so close. Iowa is a state that likes to win, but win with class. Ralph, Lute and Mr. Davis are respected, as were their players. Fans want to look up to the past and current players and coaches.

Is Keno ready and willing, not sure.

Do you want to win at all costs like Tennessee and others, or with respect like Ryan, Keady and Izzo. I prefer to win but be proud to have some local talent and kids / coaches who love to be here.

Why is it that Pearl is cheating? If Pearl come here you would think it's because he wants to be here and revive a BB program like he has done at Tennessee. Bruce or Keno would bring back the love of Hawkeye BB, the passion that once was shared and both would do it with class and style.

Most programs in college basketball that don't push the envelope in college basketball have one thing in common: they are irrelevant, or they are the elite of the elite because they have won forever.

I don't disagree on pushing the envelope, but I don't want to read about kids off the court.

Pearl has ties to Iowa and can do the job, no question. Likelihood he needs this change right now, probably not.

My point is be careful. Raveling could recruit, but did not fit here. Obviously, Alford and Lick struggled with it as well. Just like Callahan, who can coach, but had no desire to understand the passion within the state. Winning solves most everything, if you do it. These coaches did not and got or will get run out of town.

So you are saying that Hayden Fry should replace Gary Barta as AD?

No, but if you were replacing Kirk, who better understands Iowa football? He rebuilt it and obvously knows talent. Look at where his assistants are. Even Pelini has ties to him.
