Sinking Feeling Anyone?

I hope I am wrong... but it is there. With the recent tweet from Goodman I am afraid we are looking at another long rebuilding process where in 3 years we will be reviewing the situation again and debating if progress has been made. This program is on the brink of falling to the bottom of the league ( NCAA not just Big 10 ) for a long time if the right hire is not made. I sure hope Barta is really thinking this thing through... I just don't think he is..... but he is the AD and I am not.

Barta's job is on the line with this hire, if he hires anyone and it doesn't go well he will be walking out the door along with his hire. I don't have a sinking feeling though, the best we could do is Pearl or Drew and in a close third in my book is Forbes.

Yup. Sinking feeling. But I'm holding out hope that Barta has something up his sleeve that we haven't heard about yet. But with each ensuing Tweet, article, etc., I become more of a skeptic.

Well, I suppose it's true that it's an upgrade. I think I commented at some point that a Scarecrow w/ a good set of Assistant Coaches could win more than 10 games next year. But it's about Marginal Benefit vs. Marginal Cost

Marginal Benefit = 3-4 more wins? Questionable
Marginal Cost = Sanity, Dignity? Almost Certain

busabus114....exactly right. Everyone needs to go back and watch a Iowa basketball game from the last 3 years and you will quickly realize why it will be very exciting, whoever the new coach will be. The new coach will be an upgrade, period.

I'm disappointed as well that not every coach in America is clamoring to take over the Iowa job. It sucks not to be Kansas or North Carolina, but it is where and who we are.

That doesn't mean we won't land a great coach and it is certain that the next coach will far exceed anything Lick did in his 3 years at Iowa.

I think you can count on that whoever the next coach is, he will be somebody with an outstanding personality, will ultimately excite the fan base once the meltdown subsides, will recruit athletes and will play an exciting style of basketball. All of those things will be extremely easy on the eye's and ears for all Hawkeye fans.

I'm excited for whomever the new coach will be. Good days are ahead for Iowa Basketball!!!

Feelings....oh, whoa-oh, oh, oh...feelings.....you know the whole "gut feeling" thing is more a reflection of our impatience as a fan base...we absolutely have no idea who has been talked to or interviewed unless you sleep with Gary Barta every night, then maybe you might have some idea (imagine that rollicking bedroom...sleeping with Gary Barta)...anyhoo, our "feelings" don't reflect anything other than how much this coaching search has got us all on pins and needles...OUCH!
