It appears Siena will be conducting more interviews during the final four. Fran's top assistant Buongauro will get his second interview. It also list a couple other candidates; including Northeastern's Bill Coen and Jacksonville's Cliff Warren.

With the news hear looks like it could clear up Iowa's assistant job openings soon, maybe even early next week!

My hope:
Buongauro doe not get the Siena job and comes to Iowa.
Then Fran hires a top notch midwest recruiter and the best Iowa related guy like Rodell Davis or Speraw.
Then I hope that Bounguaro turns out to be a good east coast recruiter as well as a solid complement to Fran in teaching and game coaching.

If Buonguaro does stay at Sienna, sounds like Francis is coming west with Fran...fine. Altho we all know recruiting the midwest is critical, I assume that Fran knows this also.

It is also being reported that another Siena assistant may already be coming to Iowa...this was posted on another board by a Siena Mod. Take it for what it is worth...Francis has been with Coach M. for three years and comes from NY.

"Siena fan here. Was just posted on the Siena board that Andrew Francis who was on Fran's staff here will be heading to Iowa City. His assistant Adam Chaskin who came to Siena with him from North Carolina will evidently not be going with him.

If Mitch doesn't get the Siena job he will be heading to Iowa as you already heard."

Almost hope MB gets Siena job, just so FM can be in a position to go outside the box. However, it might just mean Walthall stays on board. Of course I wouldn't be upset if MB does come on board, judging by reports.

Did you notice that the starters for West Virginia all hail from New York or New Jersey? A lot of talent out there to mine. If they can be lured to West Virginia we should be able to snag a couple for Iowa.

Totally agree Hooper....Pitino has made a living in New York and Jersey too.

I think anyone who follows cbb knows of Rucker Park, And 1, and the overall talent on the eastern seaboard. Outside of NYC, Philadelphia is probably the most loaded City of talent in the nation. Everyone seems to want an ex-hawkeye for an asst. Too bad we couldn't find a former Rucker Park legend/NBA player that is a quality asst as well.

Reading the comments after this report on Fran's endorsement, it looks like Coach Francis is a guy we want to follow Fran to Iowa. As for Mitch...I am ok with him getting his shot as a head coach, and letting Fran find a super-recruiter.
