+ side: J Smith on slants and in routes

I thought J SMith was getting open pretty well last nite. It was almost like GD and KF somehow had a revelation that two pass routes that work well are the quick slant and short, medium or long in route. those were nice connections and you would think would have been a staple of this pass attack where the receiver breaks across the face of the Dback.

Good to see, need to get Scheel and some others more involved but J Smith looking more comfortable.

Maybe they'll feel more comfortable going that way in the bowl game?

I agree with your take. As bad as we looked last night things never seem as black and white as they appear. We just never do enough of what seems to work on offense.

I may be wrong, but I don't think we lack WR talent. I think we lack experience with the WR talent we have because they only get thrown the ball 4-5 times a game(combined!). we have had WR open the last couple weeks...we take ZERO chances throwing them the ball.

We three about 3 vertical passes beyond 15 yards...1 went for a touchdown(granted against possibly the 2nd team and game was over). taking ZERO deep shots....

I watched dozens of completed passes yesterday to WR with little to no separation.

CJ has got to have been coached to either throw short, check down unless WR is wide open.

Phone booth offense. 9 defensive players inside 10 yards of line.

Christ...just 3 step chuck it a couple times at least. anything.
