SIAP: Iowa banking on better shooting - Eamonn Brennan

I know as fans at times it is easy to think your team is better than it is. Yet for the most part Iowa fan has see the Fran teams for what there were (IE most thought Iowa was an NIT team, and HOPED that maybe they could make the tourney). This year it is easy to see this is an NCAA tourney team, and possibly with better 3 pt shooting, as Eamonn Brennan pointed out, a team that could make a run at finishing top 3 in the BIG and a run in the tourney. I'm so excited for Iowa BB again, and it is an AWESOME feeling.

Agreed Dean. It's pretty damn cool how Fran has built the program back up in his fashion one brick at a time. Seems like all things are starting to fall into place this year. This article is a perfect example how far they have come. It's kinda funny but I felt myself looking up to double check what website I was on like three different times while reading the article. It feels like it's been awhile since ESPN has had a positive article about the Hawkeyes.

This. Brennan has always given us the best pub possible. That's not to say he's right or wrong with this article, but he's always had a soft spot for Iowa.

While he might root for the Hawks, I think we all can believe this is a fair assessment of Iowa bb in 2013-14.

If we had shot a bit better last season we probably win at least 3-4 more games and would have danced.
Still, you have to do it...and we did not...and we have yet to do it next year.
It seems over-simplistic...shoot better and you win...but in our case we have all the rest of the elements in place.

Knock on wood,we stay healthy and guys develop as per norm, and we figure out the shooting thing.

I expect this team to one of the best we have seen in several years. Matching if not passing in talent the team Alford had that finished second in the Big Ten conference. The talent will be there, the experience will be there, the senior leadership will be there, the players are hungry to make it happen and God knows the fans have been waiting for it to happen.
