For all the complaining about failing to win close games, I don't think I've heard much talk about pulling one out this time.
I forgot. Most fans are whiny *******.
It was NIU, with 5 green offensive linemen, new QB and RB, and sacked JVB 6 times against what most considered Iowa's strongest unit. It should not have been a close game.
Close victory at MSU, when 7 got 6, to stay undefeated ... CELEBRATION!
Close victory against this NIU team is like losing one of your final four teams in the first round. You still have some hope but pretty much know it's going to be a long tourney and that you're out of the money.

No need for a hissy fit: just a reality check. It's not a big deal to pull out a close win when you've played badly against a MAC team. As someone else noted, 7-6 over MSU (or tOSU), let's celebrate.
Thats the thing. Most fans seem to think there are, at most, one or two games a year to celebrate. Any non-conference win is "expected". Any home win, outside of Michigan or OSU, is "expected". Minnesota and Iowa State are beneath us, and are not our rivals. Beat a MAC team that won 22 games the last two years? Lets complain.
Everyone likes to complain about the Hawks recent struggles in close games. Well, they found themselves down 8 points in the second half and won. We should be happy, but everyone feels that they need to complain and pretend to be a coach.
