Should we have fouled down only 3 with 46 seconds left- I say no...

I was telling my wife we need a tough defensive stand, down 3 with the shot clock on, 46 seconds to go, and Minny wasnt hitting anything for minutes

And we foul early their all time % leader in FT shooting. WTF?

Play one tough stand, pressure on Minny, get the rebound and tie it up.

Do you realize we had more buckets as well as Minny was shooting.

When minny went cold with 7 minutes to go our offense had so many missed chances, turnovers, the back to back moving screen fouls, just some really rough offensive play.

Thought the same as well. I will be harsher because I thought it was a very stupid foul. Minnesota was really struggling to close the game out and Iowa just kept on bailing them out. Fran end game decisions have been real killers, something gotta give soon.

I agree, I can be harsher about it also as just trust your team to get a defensive stop.

If minny hits a bucket or gets a free throw in that possession with 20 seconds left then Mikey G gets a quick bucket and then we start fouling.

I liked minny having to hit a hot after not scoring for about 5 minutes just earlier.

What was more perplexing was to stop pressing when the score was 82-80 with over a minute to go. The pace had Minny making poor decisions with the ball. I did not agree with this decision.

Yes, I noticed this, and the hawks were doing a lot of double teaming after the press which went right along with Minny no scoring for 5 minutes. The hawks seem to really hustle and play well on Dee playing the trap and getting teams in uncomfortable situations.

Hawks made a good comeback but just like holding a lead they couldnt get over the hump

I still dont understand fouling on purpose only down one possession

I think fouling was the right call but not fouling hollins. To much has to go right to get a stop, get a rebound, make a 3 when they know you need a 3, and win in overtime. I think you're better off extending the game and hoping they miss free throws with the late game pressure. Oh wait never mind. We are the only team in the world that feels late game pressure. Everyone else is Michael ******* Jordon when they play us.

No sheetz,,, all these teams are going off with their shooting against us. Yeah we leave some guys open but we had hands in the face on most of their 3's and they were 9-11 from 3 at one point in the first half.

Crazy,

Hollins was fouled at the 53 second mark when we were down 4 points, he made 1 free throw, then the intentional foul I was talking about followed a gesell basket and an iowa timeout.

We fouled their big guy but he sunk 2.

I would have liked to see the hawks put on some good pressure full court defense with 46 seconds left, make minny throw some passes and then trap in the half court.

Fran's half court trap really slowed minny down starting around the 8 minute mark

Oh yea. In that case I definitely think it was the right call. When you're in that position, the odds of winning are really low anyway. I think the percentages are better if you foul and extend the game.

yet that big guy shooting 63% hit 4-4 or 6-6, go figure

Yep. Michael ******* Jordon. He just as well have closed his eyes on those free throws. They were going in no matter what. Of course if it was OSU they were playing he would have clanged every one of them.
