Friday nite, his team won 83-0 up 69-0 at half stats for the game
10-14 228 yards and 3 TD'S 0 INT'S
3 carries 9 yard team totals and 1 TD, 27 passing and 12 rushing TD'S to date
275 rushing on 19 attempts for 503 total yards
the team is now 9-1 on the season and on a 9 game winning streak after losing their 1st game

oh well yit happens but it is a good looking stat for his senior year
coming off a JR year where he took his team to the State playoff since 1974
and had stats of just shy of 3000 yards passing and 300 yards rushing
FOR 13-1 team
39 passing TD'S and 8 rushing TD'S
a QB that can pass and run and a TX Recruit that has a possibility of accounting for 100 TD'S IN 2 SEASONS by running and passing 47 td's as a JR
39 + the rest of this season

Shimonek leads his team further into the TX playoff
going 8-13 for 213 yards and 2 TD'S giving him 32 TD's passing so far
8 rushes for 52 yards and 1 TD giving him 15 for the season on 108 carries

I know we don't start freshman but man is he playing great. But then again so did rudock in high school and he's sitting on the bench.

Do you know how the TX playoff system works? Are there classes, like Illinois has 1A-8A and I know Iowa has classes, and if so do you know what class he's in? It's TX so it's no doubt better than IA, I just wanted to get a feel for the level of talent he's facing.

For football, Texas has 1A-5A, but each class is split into two divisons. Effectively, they have 10 classes for 11-man football. Also, their playoffs only include public schools. There are a couple of other leagues that are private school only.

Shimonek's team is a 2A Division II team. They have advanced to the state semifinals and will play this Friday night for a chance to advance to the state title game on December 20 at Jerry World.

freshmen very rarely play let alone start, unless they are head and shoulders above everybody else, or unless a team is desperate for a QB and want's to go long term, Much like Hayden did with Long.
the trhing about this kid is his ability to run as well as being accurate with his passing
in back to back to back games he was 10-11 for 180 yards and 2 TD'S, then he went 11-12 for 165 yards and 3 TD'S
currently 6'4 205 lbs. and a 4 year starter

Is he a Drew Tate type?

Iowa needs someone with Drew Tate's toughness and ability to throw on the run or extend plays with his feet like he did.

from the videos I have seen he lines up in the shotgun and under center. he is very good at rolling out
and as this season has shown he has over 700 yards on the ground on a little over 100 carries, the longest run this season was a 78 yarder.

Sounds like a good player, I am interested to see if he competes in fall camp or if he will redshirt. I know it is about as big a long shot with three guys infront of him with at least 1 year in the system.

I guess I am one of those guys who likes to see a 4 year starter.

he can RS then start for 4 years, but there are many examples of JR's having good careers
Hartlieb comes to mind

That is true, plus we have yet to really see what CJ Beathard or Cody Sokol has to offer the team, heck we don't even know what Jake Rudock can really do yet!

this is what makes this upcoming fall so interesting, a deep and experienced OL, RB's, TE'S and WR's

I think that the TEs and OL are the deepest regarding experience. RB's and WR's have the numbers just not a ton of experience.

Interesting will be which RB hits the top of the depth chart next fall.

I would have loved to see what Beathard would have done in KOK's offense. He's got a real strong arm (probably stronger than the other two) and has great touch on his deep ball.

Halfway through this season I actually said, "if only KOK was here."

Never thought I would say that, ever.
