I hope we can add him to our '17 class. A big, physical and fast WR. Will look good catching passes from Stanley in the future.

From what I've read Iowa has played with his offer. I'd like to see him come but there's work to be done.

This is exactly what happened to Bell as well. I posted that in the thread about Bell, that Iowa backed off him (and Greenwood as well). The staff had a commitment from Smith, they also knew Holmes was coming. Buckley also told them he wanted in, and the staff was saving the last spot for Martin. All of a sudden Buckley gets the offer he always wants, and he commits to A&M, and now the staff has another scholarship at WR they want to fill

I do not know that to be the case with Bell. As I said, he told me that he still had an Iowa offer on the table when he committed to Colorado, which happened before Buckley jumped on with Texas A&M. I suppose Bell could be lying about still having an Iowa offer but I'm not going to call him a liar without evidence that he is being untruthful.

Yep, but Greenwood didn't have his offer "pulled" either technically. This lines up with exactly what I heard, the staff backed off Bell, because they had Homes and Smith and they felt they had Buckley as well. They are saving the last spot for Martin, so they thought they were done, and backed off Bell, Greenwood, and others. Bell isn't lying, never said he was, but the coaches weren't going to accept a commitment from him either if he would have tried that ala that CB last year.

We're talking semantics. Greenwood told me Kennedy told him they didn't have a scholarship for him. To me, that's pulling the offer. Then, Kennedy called him the day Buckley committed to A&M and said there was a scholarship. From what Bell told me, he was never told there wasn't a scholarship for him. And he said he had one when he committed to Colorado, which was before Buckley committed to A&M.

It is semantics, that is why I'm curious why you are banging the drum hard on this. ;)

It's curiosity more than anything. When I wrote this piece yesterday, I found it interesting how the WR recruiting has gone. As I wrote, it's often not black and white and comes with twists and turns. Maybe Bell and Greenwood were in the same boat. I'm just saying I don't have the information to make that connection. I may after talking to some folks down the road, but not yet.

Anywho, I'm curious and interested to see how this ends up. We need to upgrade the position. I'm really hoping Buckley reconsiders. A&M has a brutal schedule and another subpar year in College Station could create more unrest.

So Dean, are you saying the staff likes Martin more than Greenwood or Bell?

I think it is one of those things that they know if they get an in state kid there is little to now worry about attrition. I have no idea if they think he is better. I think they felt they had 3 really, really good out of state kids and wanted that last spot filled by an in state kid with not worries of attrition.

Makes sense.

FYI Rob the staff were looking at adding 1 LB this cycle if I recall correctly. Any idea where they head now that a couple of the top prospects have committed elsewhere?

Not sure who that would be at this point but I'm sure there are a few guys they're monitoring. I don't think they'll force it, though. I don't think they need to with the LBs they're bringing in for '16 and other possibilities to play that position in this incoming class.
