Second-round draft pick Devyn Marble has Victor Oladipo's support

this quote is the one that stuck out to me......

So I felt like what I did at Iowa was very special with the guys that I did it with."

do i smell a note of looking down his nose at his teammates?? i think yes.

I wasn't confident at first, but to me it beginning to look like Marble will be valuable player in the NBA. Now I believe that is as a bench/role player, but I'd be pretty happy to see him make the roster.

It would be disappointing if that was the case, Ankle, I think the statement could be taken either way, that he enjoyed the comradery with his teammates, all of them fighting from Fran's first year to bring the program back from oblivion. Up until the last few games of last season, they were a tight knit group Fran guided back to respectability.....

I really hope he meant that it was Special [better, greater, or otherwise different from what is usual], [ to play with his teammates who together made remarkable strides.....

It could be interpreted either way, I would like to think the remark positive. At any rate getting praise from Oladipo is significant. I thought he was the best player on the Indiana team his last season there.....

As he should. Look with what he was dealing with by the end of last year, Gesell shooting something like 16% over the last 6 or 7 games, White refusing to take any shot that wasn't a lay up, Uthoff shooting like 12% from 3 during B10 games and being scared to shoot, McCabe being McCabe.

No way that was a negative comment by Devyn. He was talking how his Dad and he had different situations at Iowa. He mentioned how the and Dipo were on the two worst teams in the league when he was a frosh, and how proud he was that he helped bring Iowa back to respectability. Dev and Mel are buddies, he would not diss him.

I for one hang on every word Marble says because I know his quotes will ultimately determine our fate this upcoming season. Sarcasm Alert!

It probably is probably pretty strange playing with the guys in the NBA. The talent level is pretty incredible and it wouldn't surprise me that he was probably trying to make himself look better, but I doubt he was consciously trying to make his Iowa teammates look bad. If Iowa makes the NBA he has something to back up the statement whatever is the full meaning, but he hasn't made the NBA yet. I think he has a shot if his shooting is great, but the last game wasn't very good for him. Marble had some good game at Iowa offensively, but he had a lot of game that weren't so good too. He is a scorer either way, but being a scorer at Iowa is a lot different than being a scorer in the NBA. Defensively I don't know if he is good enough, but if he can prove to be a legitimate threat offensively it might overcome any shortcomings he might have. I think Iowa has other players on the team that have a shot at the NBA if they develop enough.

My last post in this thread didn't post and said it needed to be approved by a mod. What gives?

I don't think this Iowa squad will get moved up to the NBA, I thought we had a chance to sneak into the Eastern Conf playoffs last year but that fell apart around Feb.

I doubt any of the players on the current team would of gotten drafted last year, but that doesn't mean they won't be drafted in the future. I'm sure all the Iowa players would love to play in the NBA, and a few of them probably think they might have a shot at it. There are probably some thinking they have a pretty good shot of playing overseas. The point guards at Iowa probably have no chance of being NBA players because they are to small. You have to have the right attributes to make the NBA. Marble has some size, but it remains if he will stick or not. I haven't heard anything of either McCabe or Basabe going overseas to play. I enjoyed watching them play, but the big men at Iowa on this years team should be a lot better than they were last year. High school basketball players are one type, college players are a different type, and the NBA player is a totally different type. The vast majority of players never really had any chance of playing in the NBA. I don't know what Marbles chances are, but he is at least being looked at. I doubt there are many NBA players that worked harder in college at basketball than the players at Iowa do. Most of them are only in college for a year or two.

This happened to me during the basketball season, except it happened for every post attempt. I thought I was banned. I sent a message to John and he told me it was some kind of glitch. I was able to post again about a week later.

It was a quote coming from the positive. To think otherwise is only to take a shot at Dev or the disappointing end to last season.

As for tm's posting problems...

I can't believe this program I downloaded actually works! Err...I mean...uhh...not sure what's up with that!?!? :D
