SEC Dominating the BASKETBALL Recruiting Landscape Now?

ESPN just published its final player rankings for the class of 2015. I browsed the top 100, thinking maybe there was an outside chance that the Hawks would sneak one of its many recruits into the list...but also checking out how the rest of the Big 10 did and who they have coming in next year. What I noticed shocked me!

1. LSU, which I did not even know had a basketball team, landed the #1 recruit in the nation, plus the #15 recruit in the nation and the #39 recruit in the nation!?

2. Auburn, which I also didn't know had a team, landed two top 60 recruits nationally. I believe this is where Bruce Pearl ended up. It just goes to show that a good recruiter is all a school needs to land talent...hint hint Ferentz.

3. Obviously Kentucky reloaded.

4. Texas A&M landed two top 30 recruits nationally???

5. Florida landed four guys in the top 80!

Seriously, the Big Ten is losing major ground in bball like it did in football over the past decade. Worst yet, the Hawkeyes are losing major ground on the rest of the Big 10. Lowly Penn State got two top 90 recruits. So did Nebraska and Illinois. Northwestern got another. Joining Maryland, MSU, OSU, Indiana with at least 1 top 100 recruit.

Be thrilled with the all the under the radar guys Fran landed if you want, as they all have potential, but there is no question that Fran is being out recruited big time for top notch players by his peers. You can land big name players at ANY school (hell, SMU got a few top 100 players) as long as you have a coach who can recruit.

Weird that espn's rankings show that the sec is recruiting good. Would have never guessed that. If any one of our recruits would have signed with Kentucky they would instantly be moved to at least a 4 star.

Lol, that's hillarious and highly likely very true.

Unusual to see only 1 player, so far, committed to North Carolina in the top 100. Imagine how those fans must feel. Fire Roy Williams!

Homes, I'm more scared of PSU, damn those Nittany Lions......or even the Illini, Groce will have our number one day.....:p

You do know that ESPN is the SEC's network version like the BTN is to the B1G. Correct?

Basketball...Iowa tied for 3rd in the conference. If the Big 10 losing ground means only 2 teams in the Final Four with 1 being the national runner up I sure hope the slide continues.

Football...Ohio State won the National Championship. What are we going to do about this?

Watch some college football and basketball instead of reading what other people think unproven high school kids will do. Then your posts may be more accurate and competent...but I doubt it.

LOL. You didn't know LSU had a basketball program? They had this one guy.... he had an OK career in the NBA.... guy by the name of Shaquille O'Neal.

Seriously, though. Most recruits want to play close to home. If they have elite talent, then they will go to an elite program. Iowa is neither near these recruits' homes nor is it an elite program (yet).

Once again, you are just carping about things.

Somewhere, Iowa Law is drinking coffee or a beer and laughing because his dumb post got all kinds of attention. Yawn.

I just assume this is iowalaw after one of his lame-*** posts.

You do realize that there is minimal difference between the 60th ranked player and the 200th ranked player, right?

It takes more than talent to win. SEC teams have plenty of talent and cannot even make the NIT....The Gators had a ton of talent this year and couldn't get out of their own way this season.

The ignorance of many hawk fans is mind blowing. The fact that non-basketball schools like Auburn, LSU, and Texas A&M brought in coaches who are absolutely cleaning up on the recruiting trail is somehow due to ESPN's favoritism of the SEC? LOL. The fact that lowly Penn State, Illinois, and Nebraska landed MULTIPLE blue chip basketball recruits this year and even Northwestern got one is irrelevant while Fran...fresh of his multiple NCAA tournament appearances, still can't manage to get the blue chip recruits to consider Iowa. No big deal. There is, after all, no difference between a guy who was a top 20 player in his state vs. a top 20 national recruit.
