Season Preview: Eastern Illinois

Over the next twelve weeks, I am going to write a weekly blog post previewing each of Iowa's twelve games. Today I posted week one's preview. Since it's the first one I've written, it may be a little shaky, but I will improve with practice. If you have feedback, post it here or PM me. Also, information on EIU was harder to find than it will be for the rest of Iowa's opponents, so take that into account. Consider this thread a discussion page for Iowa's season opener against EIU.

Nice work jumper. Unfortunately if your name isn't Jon Miller, most people don't pay attention to breakdowns like this. I know because I posted a breakdown of the Arizona game last year on the old site and got no replies. And it turned out to be a pretty accurate breakdown.

But I will try and read these as you put them out there. The other thing hurting you is it's a little early to be doing breakdowns of the games. After all, we are just under 4 months away from the first game still.

You mean the next 13 weeks because you need to break down whoever we are going to play in the BCS title game :)

Very nice breakdown. The caveat of the breakdown is that you speak generously of EIU but then still pick a slaughter. An element of the breakdown that would have explained your prediction better is if you would have included a separate section highlighting the particular match-ups ... or, at least the most important ones.

You rightly mention that the match-up of Iowa's DL versus the EIU OL + newbie QB is the key tipping factor in the game. However, you don't mention very much how their D matches up against our O.

This shows how awesome the Hawks will be next season.

awww, your feelings are still hurt? Take a step back from your keyboard and you'll see how whiny that post sounds.

Twelve weeks will put me to the end of July. Maybe for August I can work on likely bowl scenarios and matchups or something of that nature.
