Season Preview: Ball State

Northern Iowa and Arkansas State games should serve notice that parity exists in major college football and no team should be taken lightly!

You make some good points in your comments. My main things are that their coach has never showed that he really has what it takes to be a big time coach and, though they return a lot of starters, those starters didn't exactly perform very well (especially in the passing game) last season. Last year may have been an aberration, but I will assume it wasn't until proven otherwise. Ball State plays Purdue the week before they play Iowa, so we will know a lot more about the Cardinals at that point.
Edit:Also, you reference the 2007 Ball State-Nebraska game, which Nebraska won 41-40. In 2007, Nebraska was 5-7 and gave up 76 points to Kansas and 65 to Colorado. In 2010, Iowa should be one of the top 10 teams in America and will have a stellar defense. In 2007, Ball State was 7-5 and played in a bowl game. This year, Ball State will struggle to win 5 games and will be lucky to make it to .500, IMHO. Comparing the two games to each other is a huge stretch.

Just thought I'd mention, in your write up you have that we've never played Ball State before......we played them in 2005 to the tune of 56-0.

That's embarrassing; I thought I had remembered them playing once, but I couldn't find any record of it. I'll fix that right away.

That is the game where Jovan Johnson picked up a quick kick and returned it for a TD I think. That game was out of hand early. Good write up Jumper. I think the backup QB for them may be an incoming frosh but I can't recall his name right off the top of my head.
