Seantrel likes to travel

I don't know if anyone has seen this video yet from the Cleveland Plain Dealer but is shows Seantrel discussing recruiting. "what I like most about recruiting is getting to travel and visit other schools and places". So now I'm thinking, Iowa very well might have been a contender. Why waste an official "paid" visit on a school you can drive to. Traveling to La and Florida (twice) is nice. Columbus and South Bend are OK. So why did Ferentz really not go to see Seantrel? Because he wouldn"t give Iowa an official visit? I don't think so. There has to be something else.

No, there is nothing else. I do enjoy the speculation though. It makes me laugh.

The obvious and logical reason is that he didn't give Iowa his final official. How could he be serious about Iowa as a contender if he didn't want to "waste" an official on them. I think Kirk knew that Iowa was a distant choice, and decided not to waste his time pursuing a player who didn't want to pursue them.

The thought that, after a year of recruiting him, that all of a sudden, at the 11th hour, they became weary of his father, or that they decided that he was a primadonna and wouldn't fit with the team is so rediculous it is laughable. Any red flags about Seantrel would have become abundantly clear well before three weeks before signing day.

This is just a simple case of Iowa recipricating Seantrel's lack of interest.

I trust Kirk's judgment. He's been through enough of the pomp and circumstance to get a feel if a prospect will fit into the Iowa system or not.

Seems to me, based on Kirk's refusal to go through with a home visit, Seantrel is not the kind of player that fits the Iowa system.

Like I was saying, he wouldn't suddenly come to that conclusion at the end of the process. Evaluating whether a player will fit their system is probably the FIRST thing Iowa does when deciding to offer a recruit. It is certainly not the last, so your assertion is comical.

In my opinion I think what transpired prior to Kirk's planned visit was the last straw that convinced Kirk that Seantrel was not a good fit.

No recruit is bigger than the program no matter how good he is especially if there's evidence the recruit could, for whatever reason either directly or indirectly, become disruptive to the program.

Your strong opinions, stated as if they were fact, are a product of just as much speculation as anyone else's opinions on the matter.

So you disagree with my assertion that the first thing the staff does when evaluating recruits is check to see if they fit the system?

I said it as if it were fact because it's....a fact.

Kirk didn't visit because Seantrel didn't want to be a Hawk...probably fact.

Do you have inside information on this? Your response suggests otherwise.

You did say "'probably' fact" which indicates to me you are not 100% certain and that is what it takes to make it a fact (100% certainty).

I merely expressed my opinion, for whatever it's worth.

My assertion is based on my feeling that the Hendersons might have had more interest in Iowa than most think. Let's see would you want to pay to drive to IC or pay to drive or fly to Florida or Cali. I'm just saying becasue he lives close to IC why use an official on that trip. It seems to me the only difference is paying for the trip and a meal. Like I said, the Hendersons like to travel.
