Screw it. I'm blaming the refs

That missed facemark on CJ killed a drive, which killed momentum, which killed Iowa's chances of winning. So, I'm blaming the officials. It's too easy to say you can't blame a bad call for losing a game, but, yes you can. Ask any Cardinals fan what they think about Don Denkinger.

Not only did they miss the blatant face mask on CJ but they followed it up by calling a face mask on Iowa literally two plays later.

The missed holding calls on Northwestern as well, a pass interference, they called a catch a TD when he was out of bounds. All great calls by the refs.

I was livid over the display put on by that officiating crew, however, in the end, this loss still is on the shoulders of the Iowa coaches and players. When you are getting the shaft, there are multiple ways to react. One is to turtle. The other is to get angry and start pounding the opponent. Iowa chose to continue to inflict self damage and play what appeared to be unmotivated football.

I would have rather seen players grow some fire in the belly and remind the Wildcats why Fitzy hates Iowa so much. Beat 'em up, beat 'em down and find a way to win the game.
