Scott Frost - Interesting

In Frost's postgame press conference he was asked a question about the defense and he said that usually when the defense is on the field he is over talking to the offense about what they are going to do on the next possession.

That shocked me. I can see that as the offensive coordinator but not the head coach. No wonder the defense has had so many problems. Do any of you find that unusual as well?

No, if you that is what he wants.

IL has some talent and some guys Iowa could use. Nebby has a way to go. If he gets the D talent, it won't be an issue.

Maybe since Frost is an offensive guy that is where he is going to focus and he will leave the defense to the DC. And maybe he is only around the offense on the bench and giving occasional input and then still gets back to the sideline to watch the defense.

I dont get hung up on what he does except for his use of very suspect players.

A lot of the offensive minded head coaches do this. Mike Gundy used to step off the sideline and draw up plays while his defense was on the field, other air raid or spread guys have the defensive coordinator basically take over when the defense is playing.

Did you just start watching football? This is what the ferentz’ should do when our offense is on the field or when schedules are being made

I just think it

I guess it just blows me away that a head coach doesn't oversee or manage all facets of the game.

I don't want to sound off topic but a lot of what a coach does is about showmanship, gamesmanship, and job security. Fans prefer an animated coach on the sideline, some people actually believe the guy throwing the chair at a basketball game is more emotionally invested or cares more about the game than the guy who is standing still while thinking about his next move. Anyway, its not so long ago college football had seventy year old coaches who really didn't do any coaching like Mack Brown, Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno, or some other guys as they got older. They didn't really do anything other than call timeouts or argue with the refs during the game.

Not really, offensive head coaches do this. Mike gundy at times would actually go sit on the bench when the defense was in the field and go over his play sheets and talk to coordinators on the headsets

I watched the game. That's total BS. He was walking the sideline like every other HC.

This was an answer to make himself look good. "Hey, the unit I work with scored 42 points. The unit I didn't work with allowed 38 points. That's not on me."

Not so long ago is right.

Mack is back!

But, apparently mismanaged timeouts & refs bad enough to lose to Appy St.

Funny I was thinking the same thing but Phil would probably tell them to F Off.

Even Kirk mentioned a few years ago that he probably spends too much time in the offensive meetings.
