This Jok and the record deal puts the Iowa team in a bad position. He obviously cares a lot about the record. After he missed the free throw on the technical foul he showed it, then he even mentioned it after. It is putting extra pressure on what could be really important points for the team. The extra pressure is something the team doesn't need him to have. I hope it doesn't burn them in a game.

Good point on the Iowa wrestling program, they are not the badasses of the NCAA anymore.

It is a good point, but it's also an obvious one that for some reason a lot of people don't get. It's elite coaches that make programs elite. Once that coach is gone, you have to replace him with another elite coach to maintain your status. There isn't always one available. Nebraska hasn't been able to find another Osborne, Indiana hasn't been able to find another Knight, and Iowa hasn't found another Gable. In Iowa's defense, there has only been one Gable since Gable and he is at Penn State.

The link is flawed.

Nebraska football is middle-of-the-pack in the Big10 West. They are nowhere close to top 5 AP finishes.

Schwartz qualified that -- Iowa fans might be like Nebraska fans if they think they deserve to be on the same mat as Penn State.

Well, with that qualifier, sure. I guess.

But Iowa is still a blue chip wrestling program with top five finishes.

And it's more than Sanderson being an elite coach. He couldn't win championships or come close to Iowa when he coached little brother.

That's why he left for the fertile wrestling territory of Pennsylvania.

Elite wrestler turned elite coach in stacked recruiting area. That's how you win 6 of 7 championships.

So, yes, Iowa is no longer King of the Mountain; they are still on the mountain.

Nebraska football? Not on the mountain. Not in the foothills -- just flat plains everywhere they look.
