School record ticket revenue?

The final nail in Gary Barta's reign of terror...no wait, what? We made money. With the increase in B10 TV contracts...Kinnick pretty much done, and no major outlays on the horizon for facilities...Iowa is rolling in dough. Now, we have to stop discriminating against lesbians...but I think we've learned that lesson.

another meaningless statistic. You raise prices, the revenue increases.

Not only meaningless but when you spend big bucks to build massive new football practice facilities which were needed then than explains the budget being in the red. Many of us work for private corporations or have worked for them and when businesses make large money outlays to buy other businesses or to buy new improvements the business takes a hit in the bottom line.

But overall I would think the Iowa program should be in the black more often than not and needs to be fiscally responsible.

Apparently, we sold a lot more season tickets for 2018 than we did for 2017. The rest is just noise.

The only statement I trust is the bank statement.

That depends on the price elasticity of Iowa football tickets! Certain items of necessity such as food, water and shelter do follow that rule though, so is it fair to say that game attendance is a necessity? :0

I wonder how much of this was really about actual revenue/expenses in 2017. So much of the accounting moves things from one year to another. And, there was that little athletics-related suit that cost a fortune. I never trust single year bottom lines. Need to observe trends. And pay attention to the tricks that move expenses on or off the budget that is being reported. There is not consistency between institutions in this regard. This could just mean that Barta failed to budget well and left a lot of money unspent that he could have used for other good purposes.
